TPiRecap: 17 June 2011 (Father's Day Spectacular Edition)

First off, I want to take a moment to welcome what I understand are a bunch of new readers this week. Hope you all enjoy your stay at TPiRecap Towers! Any questions, comments, or suggestions, feel free to drop me a few words to let me know how I'm doing...

Also, as far as I am aware, next week will be the end of Season 39, barring two leftover episodes that will air during the summer as make-goods. I shall be treating next week as the provisional end of the season as a result, and will have expanded season statistics and analysis for you then. Just a heads-up.

And now, the main event...

Episode #: 5615K
Airdate: 17 June 2011
VTR: 1 June 2011
First Four: Hal & Kira, David & Jonathan, Willie & La'rrye, Wayne & Jeremiah (Random)
Today's Models: Amber Lancaster, Gwendolyn Osbourne, Rachel Reynolds

It's Father's Day this Sunday, and Price is celebrating with a special episode. Much like the now-annual Mother's Day Spectaculars, today we'll see stage players Coming On Down with their fathers in tow.

I'll say this much -- at least the punches are easy to win. Now if only it was more likely to win something decent with them... but I don't want to sound like a broken record on that point. Everyone knows my feeling about the slip distribution by now, I hope. And if Mike Richards is to be believed from yesterday's CBS.com chat, payouts like this are among the things that could be addressed in Season 40... Let's hope so.

Wayne does the honors for the first two, and Jonathan takes the last two...

Yikes... in a close-up cutaway to Rachel, we see the giant $25,000 bill is rather nastily torn up. (Show's old, folks...) Definitely time to take it out of circulation.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm noticing a pattern lately with this game; the correct solution the last several playings has been to end up with the board arranged in an "A" shape. Even without noticing that, however, this game should not have been lost like that.

Yes, it's over just like that -- there's no way to get three in a row now. And to be fair, this was a fairly tricky one, as Now....or Then setups go; I would've gone the same way on both the prices we saw, and thus lost the game (since any three-in-a-row would've had to have included one or the other of the eggs and baby food). Still depressing, though.

Last chance for Willie and La'rrye to avoid the buzzards; luckily for them, they have the advantage...
