TPiRecap: 19 August 2011 (Back to School Spectacular)

Episode #: 5623K (Back to School Spectacular)
Airdate: 19 August 2011
VTR: 2 June 2011
First Four: Candace, Kenyatta, Sara, Jessica (R-L)
Today's Models: Amber Lancaster, Gwendolyn Osbourne, Rachel Reynolds (Aidan Mattox, Issue New York)

That's right, kids... sorry to say, but school's just around the corner again. It's all good though, because today's show features prizes every aspiring student needs, and all our contestants are college students (which actually isn't all that unusual, these days).

Beginning a Back to School special with It's In the Bag. It's kind of like showing up to your first class and realizing too late you haven't done any of your summer reading:

  • Nissin Cup Noodles ramen soup mix
  • Red Bull energy drink
  • Totino's Pizza Rolls (40)
  • Ecology filler paper (150 sheets)
  • SanDisk 4GB USB drive
  • 3M Post-It Flag+ pens (2)

As Baggy setups go, this one's actually not that tricky... provided you use your brain.

WIN!

Now isn't that just typical? The one price I was convinced wouldn't be correct is the one that was correct! But it's not like I'm complaining or anything -- especially considering this is probably the only win we'll get today, the way I think things're going...

Let's see... So far, we've had a "Sara" and a "Jessica" on stage. If George next calls down a "Parker," and he gets out of the Row, I'm gonna call shenanigans. XD

...Alas, it's not to be.

Man, Mike must be on an especially cruel streak today... after two straight games that were rarely won in Season 39, now we're staring down the barrel of That's Too Much!:

Cheap plug while I have a moment... Doritos recently rolled out a new flavor, at least in my area, that's just awesome - Tapatío. For those who don't know, Tapatío is a Mexican hot sauce that falls on the low end of the heat scale (hotter than most off-brand cayenne sauces, slightly milder than Tabasco), but has an awesome flavor to it. The combination of a mouth-tingly hot sauce flavor with nacho cheese and corn tortillas is a definite winner as far as I'm concerned. Look for it!

It strikes me that today's featured a lot of cheap Contestant's Row prizes...

Finally, an easy setup! (Well, easy to those of us attentive viewers who aren't under time and Peanut Gallery pressure, that is!) Even the accessories weren't that hard to figure out for once, as long as you logically eliminated the other three prizes as being over $1,000. Well played!

...You know, I can't even remember the last time I saw a car price end in a triple-zero like that. On this show, or in real life.

Since today's a themed show, Candace will be forced into detention if she doesn't get out of the Row this time -- and the administrator of detendion at this educational establishment has feathers. And claws. And a beak. And is ravenously hungry after a long summer of leftovers and Spam...

Some "Spectacular" this was... only about $143K on offer. For special episodes like this, it should be knocking on the door of two hundred Gs, if not over it. The amount won... eh, it's about what you'd expect these days, honestly.

Still two make-goods to go, the first of which is next Friday... same Kid time, same Kid channel. See you then!
