TPiRecap: 21 September 2011

Okay, the redefined fonts thing just wasn't working out the way I hoped it would, so rather than mess with it further I'm putting that on the back burner for the time being. Instead, I'll focus on content rather than style, at least for now. That'll probably work out best for all concerned.

Let's do this...

Episode #: 5633K

Hmm, two quickie games in a row to lead off. This is either leading up to something really intricate and amazing later on or the producers just mailed this lineup in. We'll have to see which one it is.

Drew's Inspiration Putt:
...Well, actually, since Drew's got a bum right arm, it's really more like...

Drew's Rachel's Inspiration Putt:
Hard enough and long enough, but just a tad off center. But still, not bad at all for someone wearing three-inch platform heels!

Dustin's First Putt:
Well, his grip could be better... but his putt couldn't be! Straight in!
WIN(ning? Yes)!

If you saw his shirt, you'd understand.

Flashback: I thought for a minute we'd get a look at something memorable related to Hole in One, even if only just a clip of Bob showing Drew that the host can get an Inspiration Putt in the hole every once in a while... but instead, we get arguably the second most (in)famous Come On Down of all time after Yolanda's Tube Top of Doom, the Patricia Bernard incident from 1976. (Apologies, but this low-quality clip from GSN's old WinTV was the only example I could find on YouTube just now.) Relive the fun as Patricia experiences every hopeful contestant's worst nightmare... and learns the hard way why you should always go before you leave the house!

Now that was an evil setup for this game. Notice that a pattern that would've been a major hint to victory in the past (the presence of a price ending in 0 and one ending in the last digit of the target) was completely discarded here.

I KNEW IT!

I just  CENSORED  knew that was gonna happen as soon as I saw the $19K price. I knew he wasn't gonna stop there, I knew he should've stopped there, and I knew he was gonna stop after going that one number too far. Argh!

Flashback: To a happier time. A much happier time, as it happens. In fact, Price moments just don't get much happier than a winner in the primetime Million Dollar Spectaculars. It hasn't happened often, of course; out of twenty-seven official MDS specials to date, only three contestants -- Adam Rose (22 February 2008), Cynthia Azevedo (4 April 2008), and Michael Haynes (7 March 2008) -- have taken home the seven-figure payoffs, and we get to see a montage of their Millionaire Moments... which you can, of course, see in their entireties by clicking on the airdates in this ridonkulously long run-on sentence that has gone on for entirely too long so I think I will stop now. 8^)
