TPiRecap: 23 April 2013 (Big Money Week #2)

It's Day #2 of Big Money Week, and so far we're approximately $400,000 into a week we've been told is budgeted for over a million -- and we still have a $500,000 Plinko waiting in the wings to account for more than half of that!

Let's watch...

Grand Game, which is today's big money offering -- being played for $100,000:
  • Creamsicle ice cream bars (8)
  • Olay Moisture Ribbons body (18oz)
  • Betty Crocker Au Gratin potatoes
  • Whink Hair Clog Blaster! drain opener
  • Welch's Concord Grape jelly (32oz)
  • Nestl√© Crunch candy bar

Rule Change: None, unless you count starting at $10 instead of $1. It's still the same layout -- four GPs are below the Target price, two above it.

In the words of a great publisher and philosopher of a previous generation's game show institution, "I smell eight rats." Of course, with a hundred grand on the line, you knew it wasn't gonna be a giveaway, but this one can get extraordinarily dicey depending on the precise flavor of evil Mike decided to sample today. If I had the gun to my head, however... I'd say the body wash and the jelly (yes!) would be the ones worth avoiding, and I know I'm taking an awful gamble on a two-pound jar of grape jelly.

Let's hope for the best, as Drew reminds Jamie that she can ask any questions about sizes and whatnot, since we're playing for so much money this time. (Drew: "I don't wanna give you my hundred thousand dollars, I wanna give you CBS's... just want to make that clear...")

Well, I knew going in I was taking a gamble with the jelly. You never know what these guys'll do in a situation like this. However, my initial gut reaction before I stopped to consider the Mike Richards Factor was to steer clear of the body wash and the drain opener. If I'd just stuck to those guns and not tried to second-guess myself, I would've won. Meh.

A bit higher than I thought, actually -- for that matter, a much greater margin than we usually see for the car price -- but who cares? It was still higher than the posted price, and Erin still called it right, meaning she wins this rarely-won game!

During Jamie's first spin, Drew confirms that she did indeed win the $1,000 on Grand Game. When the scoreboard flipped back to $0 I was a bit concerned, but apparently that much of Grandy's standard rules remained intact (i.e. you only wipe out if you go for the fourth and final product and blow it then).

Medybill's Hope is to get out of the Row this time -- luckily, she does have the advantage -- before she gets shipped off to Leftover Island with the rest of the F4s. Besides, this is also for the right to play the second car game.

A promo here gives away the remaining three elements of Big Money Week; two of which (Plinko with a $100K slot and a Ferrari on offer in an as-yet unknown game) we already knew. The third? Unfortunately, it's Pay the Rent, and by "unfortunate" I simply mean it's not anything they have to spruce up for this special week. It's a $100K game every time it's played. That's a bit disappointing if you were expecting something out of the ordinary, but who knows? Maybe they could yet surprise us.

Showcases: Christopher top winner, Jamie runner-up.
