One almost gets the impression that today seems custom-tailored to drive me mad... but who knows, maybe Now...or Then will prove me wrong:
Schwinn home exercise equipment (Cardio Bike, treadmill, & elliptical trainer) & Samsung 51" plasma HDTV ($5,197; GO)

Okay, it won't drive me mad necessarily... but it may give me paranoid déja vù. First it was That's Too Soul-Crushing!, now this.
  • Capzasin topical analgesic liquid
  • Breath Savers mints (5pk)
  • Glad reusable soup & salad containers (5pk)
  • Gold Bond medicated foot cream
  • Aunt Jemima buttermilk waffles
  • Band-Aid Sheer Strips bandages (40).

Although the Band-Aids are marked with "New!", it's not necessarily an anachronism; the callout is to a new feature of the bandages that didn't exist Then. The product itself was around, which is probably what the intent was.

Hey, why not let's make it three out of four for games played on two consecutive episodes, with Double Prices:

I say $7,499, because most motorcycles I've seen on this show tend to end in -99.

$1160

While Elisha tries to find exact change, Ethan gets to go on a Shopping Spree with the Talk crew:
  1. Elmira Stove Works retro-look refrigerator (JC)
  2. Four pairs of leather designer shoes (JC)
  3. Apple 27" iMac computer (16GB RAM, 3TB HD, 720p HD webcam, AIO; SU)
  4. Butterfly table tennis package (SU)

Y'know, not for nothing, but the more I think about it the more I feel like Shopping Spree and Danger Price overlap in the way Eazy Az 1-2-3 and the departed Clearance Sale did. It amounts to the same game mechanics is the end, pick the three "safe" prizes and win all four; the only real difference is that in Shopping Spree the "danger price" is always the least expensive prize. They're not quite outright clones of each other, but they're very close -- closer, perhaps, than Shopping Spree was to Credit Card (where you had to pick the three least expensive prizes out of five), a comparison that has been discussed to death in the past.

With that said, I'm about 95% positve that the table tennis stuff is the one to avoid here. Let's watch:

I don't mind telling you, after that first half I was ready to tableflip and just kick the tires of Neverwinter Online instead of finishing the recap -- but the second half definitely helped salvage the day!

    1. As did I, but -- if you saw the "model takeover" episode from April Fool's Day or even just read my recap of it -- she referred to herself as "Osbourne" in that. That's when I did my 180 on it.
