TPiRecap: 10 June 2013

Beginning the last ten first-run episodes of Season 41 (and as a heads-up, longtime LFaTs may want to circle the ninth such episode, airing 20 June, on their calendars)...

Aaaand we're off and running... >_<

Hey, Kerianne, / What's your game now, can anybody play? ♫ Turns out it's Bonus Game and only she can play to win this:
2013 Honda CR-Z hybrid (CBT, 1.5L, integrated motor assist; $20,625; MA)

Now that's a Bonus Game prize, folks! Of course, you can expect those SPs to be killers this time...

Lakeshia redeems herself from stomping on my pet peeve in the last one-bid, just in time for One Wrong Price:
  1. Escalade Sports Atomic 8' air hockey table (RW)
  2. Apple MacBook Pro laptop computer (8GB RAM, 256GB Flash, HD webcam; AL)
  3. Blue Ember stainless steel gas barbeue (MA)

The air hockey table looks too expensive; the other two things look about right to me. My instinct is to pick that.

At this point, Drew takes wise guys like me to task who all think this stuff is easy. Thing is, I've always known how much easier it seems when you're at home, away from the lights and the cameras and the Peanut Gallery and the pressure of actual cash and/or prizes on the line, and I've always tried to be considerate of that... certainly far more so than some of my collegaues and contemporaries in the field of Internet game-show punditry.

So with that in mind, let's play a game that used to be a virtual slam-dunk but is now rarely won, Grand Game:
  • Aussie Moist shampoo
  • Liquid-Plumr Urgent Clear drain opener
  • Land O Lakes mild cheddar cheese
  • Swans Down cake flour
  • Gold Bond Ultimate DIabetic foot cream
  • Canada Dry club soda (2L)

That last GP reminded me of the old joke about how Dean Martin got kicked out of our neighbor to the north once upon a time -- "he saw the billboard that said 'Drink Canada Dry,' so he tried to!"

Frankly, my gut told me to stay away from the foot cream and the shampoo. It's been so long since I've bought brand-name cheese that I forgot how ridiculously expensive it could be for even Kraft stuff; if I had remembered it would've gone much nicer.

Anything to avoid banishment to Leftover Island, eh, Jordan?

Step Up, one of the games I feel we don't see nearly often enough:
  1. Electrolux washer & dryer (MA)
  2. Samsung 55" 3D LED smart HDTV w/glasses (MA)
  3. Pro-Form treadmill (AL)
  4. Five pairs of LAMB designer shoes (AL)

Seriously, I'd much rather see more of Step Up than Danger Price or Swap Meet.

I'm gonna say $7,261 for this one. Fairly long distance and it does cross an international border, however friendly that border may be (awright, who said "fifty-first state?").

  1. Oh Kid, you just had to put the reference to The Hollies - I keep hearing that song on my local oldies station as they are promoting a local PBS program about the group and it's stuck in my head. :p

    Anyway -

Bonus Game: Fondue set would have had me.

1WP: Easy win, that table was certainly no $3,000 piece of work.

    Grand Game: Same thoughts here.

Step Up: $600 for a treadmill? Ah well...

Push Over: Trips and budget lockdown are proving to be a lethal combination for contestants. :/

Any Number: Two car game wins after a week without one feels refreshing!
