TPiRecap: 24 June 2013

Okay, so... I was wrong.

No worries. It's happened many times before, and it'll probably happen many times in the future.

Friday was not, in fact, the last official first-run episode of Season 41, not counting the make-goods and summer specials. Today is that. On Tuesday we begin a series of four previously pre-empted episodes that'll last us until Friday, after which comes the Fourth of July Spectacular next Thursday. After that, we don't reconvene here at the Towers until mid-August. Other than those exceptions, and unless anything newsworthy emerges from the first tapings of Season 42 (which actually start today), this blog will go into summer hibernation mode starting after Friday.

Some people have asked me about an end-of-season statistics post, like I've done in the past. Unfortunately, for various reasons I had to stop keeping those stats after January when I realized my unplanned two-month hiatus had simply become too long to catch up with. However, between a combination of this week's shows and data from the tpirsummaries site, I'll see what I can't do for you by next Thursday's spectacular. Also, once Season 42 kicks off on 23 September I will be able to return to full record-keeping mode.

I'll have more to say as the week goes on. So with that preamble out of the way, let's do this thing...

We're doing all right today... just as long as we don't see a game like That's Too Much!, Temptation, Gas Money, Pathfinder, or -- NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!:

I don't need to say a single word now. All I have to do is point you in the direction of the diatribe I posted the other day on why this game -- not Temptation, not Gas Money, not even That's Too Much! -- is the most evil car game of all by design.

Sigh. Let's just get the bloodletting over with...

NATURALLY

There are only so many ways I can put it: This is a brutal, brutal game. The only way you can realistically save yourself is by getting a perfecto on the GPs, but too often they're either total coin-flips or people just don't pay attention to the little things.

C'mon, guys, I'm practically begging you here... fix this game! And I don't mean that kind of "fix," either. Give players one free
digit to start with (their choice), drop one of the cards so they pick from a pool of six rather than seven, or do something. If not, it's time to take the axes and torches to this thing and write it off as a failed experiment. That's the last resort for any Pricing Game though, and I'd rather it not come to that if it can be at all avoided.

Rachel is just one IUFB away from Leftover Island, but she's got the advantage...

SHOCKER OF THE DAY!

I was literally typing up the loss text for this, when Mike pulled that little curveball out of his pocket! Shows what I know, yet again. And so we end the season, yet again, with a 5-1 day, with only the festering blemish known as Stack the Deck to screw up our record.

  1. One Away: Weaseling our way to a win, are we? ;)

One Wrong Price: I agree, it had to come to the TV. Silly price for it to be an accurate answer, didn't think it would be that expensive though.

Plinko: Ebenezer coughs a $10,000 up to end its season (Save for the make-goods)! Notice she hit all the money slots, too. ^^

Coming or Going: I was half-afraid the $6,208 would be on the other side of the card. It wasn't too long ago we saw a London trip for below $6,000.

Stack the Deck: This POS isn't worth a comment.

Bargain Game: I was worried about the computer going cheap myself...no brand was bait.

Showcases: Painful ending for Katrina...fell victim to Stacky and lost a second car by just $12. :S
