TPiRecap: 27 June 2013 (Make-Good #3)

Fair warning: I was told beforehand to expect the return of an "unwanted" friend today. Normally I don't get these kinds of spoilers before I sit down to watch, but the fact I did today makes me a bit worried -- and probably of the mindset, before I even start in, that today's show would've done better to stay buried.

But, we'll see. Hope springs eternal and all that.

Episode # 6232K
Airdate 27 June 2013 (postponed from an eariler date)

Could this be the "unwanted friend?" It's the ever-frustrating, ever-disappointing (but super-exciting on those extremely rare times it's actually won) Triple Play:

1. 2012 Toyota Corolla (AT, 1.8L; RR)

(MA with the tags)

triple play

$14,021

$17,425

At least the first one's easy enough (for me, anyway) -- $14,021.

...who knew a stock Corolla would be that pricey? >_< At least she got it right, and she's the only one for whom it matters.

2. 2013 Hyundai Elantra GLS (AT, rear bumper protector; MA)

(AL with the tags)

triple play

$15,960

$18,100

$21,230

I'm thinking $18,100 this time.

And finally...

3. 2013 Mini Cooper hardtop (1.6L, elec brake force distribution, onboard computer, center armrest; AL)

(RR with the tags)

triple play

$20,816

$22,015

$24,250

$26,326

I suspect Mike pulling something cute here, like a $21K price... thus, $20,816.

I thought so. Not a pretty start (and I begin to suspect my fears are well-founded). Still, credit to Savanna for at least making it to the end; very few players of late have.

COME ON

Only cars generally go for $15K+ in games like this. But if it's any comfort, I would've lost too.

Two games, two losses. Is it possible to do the inverse of a "perfect show jinx" by calling up the word "skunk" this early in to prevent it? If so, I'm doing it...

One more step down the road to fumigation. Unfortunately, this was a case of zigging when you should have zagged. >_<

Well, Keilani is on the verge of banishment to Leftover Island -- though the way things have been going so far today, that may be a blessing in disguise. At least she'll be out of the line of fire, should our old friend Pépe find his way into the studio. However, she still has one chance to escape and turn the Titanic away from the iceberg.

SKUNKED!

Ugh. My source was right, my fears were founded, and this episode probably should have stayed buried. --;

Making matters worse was that these weren't even especially bad losses, and only one (Squeezy) could be directly attributed to vapor-lock on the part of the stage player. (Really, $16K for a WaveRunner?) These were just bad turns of fortune for everyone involved, and nobody can really be blamed for it. Sometimes, that's just the way the cards get dealt.
