TPiRecap: 16 August 2013 (Back to School Spectacular)

Just a quick update: By the offiical start of Season 42 you can expect a slightly spruced-up recap template, one that looks a bit less "boxy" and more modernized. I probably won't be returning to the full-graphics experiment however, unless it's for a game like Double Cross; that can safely be classified now under "more trouble than it's worth." And yes, once the new season starts I will return to providing full season statistics in the style I did them before my burnout, as I've found a way to greatly automate the process.

Also, just to update everyone on the summer schedule: Today is the now-annual Back to School all-college-student special, which was the penultimate episode recorded for Season 41 (the Fourth of July Spectacular being the last). Then on Tuesday (20 August) we have the first of three remaining make-good airings; the others will follow on the 29th and on September 11th, after which my notes show we're all done until the season premiere on 23 September.

Let's do this...

I do consider this a tricky setup; my gut instinct would be that a six-night trip would necessarily be more expensive than a four-night one, but then you have distance to take into account -- and the fact the closer of the two destinations (to LA) had the lower posted price. I could've seen this one going either way. Alas.

So far, this episode's been as thrilling as a slovenly roomate who refuses to keep his mess on his side of the dorm. But you never know... a turnaround may be just around the corner...

Rather pretentious fraternity, Pi Rho Iota Chi Sigma, with five letters in its name...

(I guess they wanted it to spell "PRICE," as Drew notes, but they could have just used a normal E -- Epsilon -- on the end for that. But then, I suppose ΠPIXE doesn't look as "Greek" as ΠPIXΣ does...)

It's the last chance for Joslyn to escape banishment to Leftover Island, currently disputed territory between Buckeye and Mountaineer fans... not a good place to be!

Phew. It's not much, but it beats getting completely wiped out on the day (save for a fair-to-middling $2,500 bailout on Punchy, that is).
