TPiRecap: 20 August 2013

Okay, let's see if we can't do better on this make-good than we did on last Thursday's so-called "spectacular." Working in our favor is the fact it would take serious effort to do worse...

Episode # 6284K
Airdate 20 August 2013 (postponed from an earlier date)
VTR 19 February 2013
First Four Milan, Abdullah, Nancy, Robert (L-R)
Today's Models Manuela Abreález, Amber Lancaster, Rob Wilson

And we have Connor Carey doing a run-in with his dad during the open! He doesn't stick around though.

And we kick off a make-good airing with, of all games, Golden Road:
  1. Panasonic 42" LED 3D smart HDTV w/4pairs of glasses (AL)
  2. Steam shower w/sauna (RW)
  3. 2013 Porsche 911 Carrera coupe (7PDKT, active suspnension management, elec sunroof, multifunction steering wheel, Bose audio, premium pkg, 14-way seats, paint prot, & PYRO!; over $98,000; MA)

Either somebody up there really doesn't like us, or... no, don't even think it. You'll jinx it. Let's just take it as it comes.

(I should take this opportunity to explain a slight change in my recording: If Abdullah, or anyone else who plays this game, manages to win the four-digit prize, I will consider that a "partial" win. The three-digit prize is a virtual giveaway at this point, so I can't really count that; everyone gets at least that one.)

What do you know!

Of course, the real quandry comes now, with a Porsche 911 riding on what amounts to the roll of a four-sided die -- a very painful prospect, just ask anyone who's ever stepped on such a die in bare feet. (From one who knows.)

Well, we can rule out the 8 right away, because I don't think even Mike Richards would pull the double-digit gag on this. And since my gut instinct is to put the 7 there, and my backup gut instinct goes with the 2... I must ignore both of them and say 6. My gut has no idea what it's doing when it gets to this level.

That's one heck of a lot of car to stake on my initial reaction...

...I remind you at this point, Golden Road is the only heritage Pricing Game yet to be won in daytime since Drew Carey took over the show in Season 36...

...although it was won on a primetime MDS in 2007...

...and as for today...

...we discover that...

...I'm annoying a lot of people with this gimmick by now, I'm sure...

...but also that...

All my gut instincts are saying the pool table is the one to pick, and I can't really find any reason to disagree... and neither can Milan, though she does almost pick the washer/dryer anyway...

Only thing I knew for sure was that the last digit was 8. Oy.

Timing is Everything Dep't.: When the camera zooms in on Richard during his Come On Down, that's when CBS decided to stick up a Chyron promo for Person of Interest. Thus, what you saw when you looked up at the screen was a closeup of our next contestant, with the legend "PERSON OF INTEREST" underneath. The jokes just write themselves sometimes...

    1. Eh, this one wouldn't really have been that bad, honestly, but for that annoying DOB. And even that wouldn't have stung so badly if this episode had aired when it was originally supposed to, I don't think.

  2. Darn it. I was hoping for that Porsche to be won. Man, was it a beauty!

We'll see a Golden Road win eventually. There is absolutely NO denying it. Pray for it to happen next season.

And the same goes for other games that haven't had a win in a long time, as well.
