TPiRecap: 25 September 2013

By the way, apologies if the colors seem a bit off from what they had been. The new version of LibreOffice seems to have done something odd with the default colors. I'm working on it.

WIN!

It took until the third show, but we finally managed to give away the first car of Season 42! Fittingly, it was in the one car game that is by design absolutely immune to forced wins or losses.

Maybe things are starting to look up? We can only hope!

Ugh. Coin-flip time. My first instinct is to pick the accessories, but the posted bargain price for the Polaris ATV is already about what its more common colleagues by Can-Am often go for around these parts, so it could just as easily be that.

Dawn picks box #6...

6
EMPTY
LOSS

The good stuff was in box #2 today.

But hey, if that's the biggest disappointment of the first half, I'd say we're still doing okay! We gave away a car -- an increasingly rare occurrence around these parts -- and came away with a win on a very tough Bargain Game setup... not too shabby if you ask me.

ARRRGH

I hate when they do that! I understand there's time pressure involved, and it's always easier when you're at home, and that all but the most stalwart LFaTs might have balked at the notion of a barbecue being that much (and even then, those LFaTs might still have had reservations about it), but it's stil lfrustrating to see someone repeat an arrangement in this game.

Trimona is bound for Leftover Island unless her bidding improves quickly. On the plus side, though, at least we managed to pare it down to one Rowbird in that position...

Trimona escapes at an opportune moment -- in more ways than one! She gets to play the second-half car game!

Unfortunately, at least for my blood pressure, it's 10 Chances:
  1. Nostalgia Electrics mini donut maker (RR)
  2. Microsoft XBox360 Kinect console w/games & accessories
  3. 2014 Jeep Patriot Sport (2.4L, FWD, deep-tint sunscreen glass, all-season tires, Media Center 230, 6CD/DVD/MP3, paint/fabric prot; DD)

I had considered making it a partial win if at least the three-digit prize was won, but now that I think about it... that's probably a bad idea. Thus, no bookkeeping changes here.

Let the nightmare begin...

Well, how about that? Quite far removed from my initial fears, Trimona now has six -- count 'em, six! -- chances to win that Jeep, which is about twice as many as the average Ten Chances player gets these days! And all with no Zero Rule Violation demerits, on top of it all!

Could this be the balm for our soul we needed? Let's find out!

It's offical -- today makes up for the lackluster beginnings of the week. XD

Well, maybe Dawn might not agree. It appears as if Dawn thought she'd won (presumably because she thought Anna went over), and there's a look of what could almost be called horror on her face when Drew had to tell her otherwise. Man, that's a downer... bad enough when that happens in Contestant's Row, but to have it happen here, under these circumstances? Definitely casts a slight pall on the celebration (at least it does for me -- but then, as is well established by now, I need therapy).

Nonetheless, congratulations to Anna for being the first DSW of Season 42 -- and for actually doing it before we had our first DOB!

  1. Personally, I took points off of Trimona for having the audience spell out each of her car guesses for her, but hey, all's well that ends well!
