TPiRecap: 11 October 2013 (Publisher's Clearing House Week #5)

It's the last day of the Publisher's Clearing House stunt... but we're not quite done with big money yet. In fact, next week will be our second attempt at a Big Money Week... you remember, the stunt from last season where the show offered over a million dollars in cash and prizes, including a $285,716 Ferrari in 3 Strikes? Unfortunately, things didn't end up going so well, as only one of those games managed to be won (though it was admittedly a historic win, the first time Pay the Rent has ever been hit for the big money)... but you never really know, do you? Maybe this time will be different.

To find out, you'll have to tune in all next week -- or just keep your eyes on this blog for the blow-by-blow, of course!

For now, let's focus on the last day of this stunt before we move on to the next, and see who's gonna pick up the extra twenty grand for being the first winner of the day...

The "stuff being covered up" today cannot be depicted in the usual way. In fact, it beggars description at all. It's pictures of George Gray with various wacky 'Shopped hairdos, including a clown wig and the "Gidget Goes Television City" look. "This is George in his weekend outfits," quips Drew.

The sooner we can get those things covered up the better, if you ask me!

Well, that's the good news. The bad news is, she's left with terrible odds for the last digit, and I fear she'll gravitate towards the 5 or 0 and be lost. (If it were me, I'd go with the 4.)

But anything can happen at the Last Chance Saloon:

The cream, the pain patch, and the cleaner. Unless Mike's pulled something cute on us for the second game in a row, that seems the most obvious course of action -- and Amber obviously agrees

And so we still leave unanswered the question, "What happens if we get skunked during PCH Week?" The world may never know... not, mind you, that I'm complaining. The Prize Patrol springs out from behind Door #3 Door #2 for the last first time this week, but I cannot help but wonder if that's going to end up being the highlight of the day.

I do feel the need here to stress, again, that I'm watching the episode for the first time while I'm typing up the recap, in a top-down fashion. This means my reactions are fresh and my predictions are legitimate, not ones I've gone back and plugged into the proceedings just to make me look like a smartass. (Keep in mind how many times I've been wrong, too...)

I just hope I'm not right about my "highlight of the day" prediciton eariler...

    1. As explained here:

"'WSD' is an 'inverted' DSW, meaning the unfortunate bidder... was $250 or less over the ARP of the Showcase. It's the most painful kind of overbid.
