TPiRecap: 7 October 2013 (Publisher's Clearing House Week #1)

This will be a big week, for a number of reasons. One hundred thousand of them, in fact, assuming all goes according to plan.

Note
Publisher's Clearing House Week #1

But first, a side note: A rendition of the Big Wheel has been added to the logo form-up in the intro. I didn't notice that on the Breast Cancer Special last week, which was the first aired show to be done on the revised set -- which now, it seems, makes its formal debut today.

And with that, here's the deal: They're baa-aaaack! The Publisher's Clearing House Prize Patrol is lurking in the back, just waiting to deliver a $20,000 bonus check to the first stage player to win his or her pricing game. They'll be doing so every day this week, for a total of $100,000 in bonus bucks.

For record-keeping purposes, I should point out that the same rules apply now as did when they last did this back in March: The $20K is treated as a bonus, and is not included in the total amount offered on a given episode. (And leaving unanswered, hopefully for as long as possible, the question of what happens in case of a skunking...)

Let's do this!

It's either gonna be $9,640 or $8.539, and I'm thinking $8,539 is more likely this time.

$5,396? Seriously? For Belize?

Nobody was winning this. Simple as that.

Suddenly, I have a gaping hole where my stomach used to be...

  • Aspercreme Maximum Strength pain relieving creme
  • Selsun Blue dandruff shampoo
  • Francesco Rinaldi pasta sauce
  • Unisom SleepTabs sleep aid (48)
  • Gold Bond Ultimate Diabetic lotion
  • Playtex Living gloves

...It's a good thing one's success in this game is not necessarily dependent on pricing ability. Because this is one of the evilest-looking Hole In One setups I've seen in a long freaking time. >_< All we can do is hope for the best...

...and we get the worst, of course.

For whatever reason, the longtime camera shot (looking back at the contestant from the hole) has been changed to a side-view of the putting green. It's a bit jarring, I'll admit, but in the end I don't think it'll make that much difference -- this is, after all, how the Peanut Gallery sees it live in the studio, and no one's ever complained too vociferously about it.

Drew's Inspiration Putt:

By now you should know how I feel about that...

  2. Burberry designer accessories (MR)

I say the computer's more expensive (it's Apple, and just look at those specs!), so I'd subtract.

Consuelo, however, adds...

Remember how at the outset, I said we'd "hopefully" leave the question unresolved as to what happens with the bonus money if we get skunked? We may be closer to finding out than anyone wants to admit.

  1. When you do the Leader Board, can you also label which of the players won the $20,000 PCH bonus?

  2. Why are you so surprised about the Belize trip? It's just south of Mexico, and is about as far from LA as Pittsburgh is. Shout out to Bill Cullen's old stomping grounds!

    Decent show, otherwise.

    1. These days, any trip that crosses an international border that clocks in at under six grand is a shocker for me, I guess.
