It's In the Bag:
  • Mt. Olive kosher dill spears
  • Nabisco Nilla wavers (11oz)
  • Sun-Maid cinnamon swirl raisin bread
  • Gold Bond Ultimate Healing lotion
  • Hunt's tomato sauce (8oz)
  • "Rachel-recommended" Hefty foam plates (25)

As usual, the first two bags are dead simple, then the difficulty level ramps straight to "varying degrees of evil."

Oooo-kay, that's the one I thought he'd blow it on. (My own personal arrangement had the Nilla wafers in the $1.99 bag. Nilla wafers are cheap, at least here they are.)

Of course, now we have problems, as the last two prices could easily be inverted and still be correct. On the other hand, if the raisin bread is $3.29, then all Jack's worries are over.

Things are looking up -- only two digits to go and two bailouts remain in play.

And the price of the car is $20,956. Once again, viewers of the show in HD can see the faintest outlines of those two unlit numbers. I thought they'd finally found the correct way to shoot the prop so that doesn't happen (it hasn't the last few times Pathy has been played).

Hate to say I told you so...

Seriously, guys, fix that. I know it's something incredibly subtle that most "normal" viewers might not notice even if they did have HDTVs. However, I guarantee you -- if I noticed, chances are other people did too... including some who might make The Trip one day and who might draw Pathy as their game sholud they make it on stage. Can you afford to take that chance?

If it seems I complain a bit too much about Pathfinder, I have a reason: For all its recent cruelty, this is still one of my favorite car games on the show, and is far more deserving of life than (say) Stack the Deck or That's Too Much! I'd hate to see it scrapped due to producing so many losers (a rare, but precedented occurence in the annals of The Price is Right) or for making the show look chintzy, especially when there's nothing else fundamentally wrong with it. My complaints are for all the right reasons, I assure you.

Drew gives us a tease for next week's shows: Dream Car Week, where one of the car games on each show is being played for... well, I think it's pretty apparent, don't you? Sort of like Big Money Week but with more MPG.

The only way to see how this will turn out is to tune in. See you Monday!
