Right, I even mentioned this game yesterday on the GSParadise board when discussing games with worse recent win percentages than Gas Money. Should've known I would've jinxed it.

$16,970 would have been my bet.

Only $2,762 in gifts? That's cheap for Temptation lately; we've gotten accustomed to anywhere in the $4-6K window.

Perhaps that played a role in Charles's decision, because he decides to risk it...

Number one, I'm an idiot.

...What do you mean, you already knew that?  ;^P...

Number two, this would in fact be #2... only the second time since Drew took over the show that Temptation has been won outright. And it just may be possible.

Let's find out...

Yeah, even though I had hope, I still had misgivings about that 5 being the last digit. Still, it was certainly not impossible.

EMPTY
HEARTBREAKER
You already know which box was right.

And that just goes to show you, no matter how easy you make it for yourself... in the end, ½ Off will always be no better than a coin-flip. 8^/  I do, however, count this as a "partial win" because she aced the actual pricing portion of the game, which is rare enough.

Hmm.

Since the appliance troika always ends in 7, $4,447 is the only logical price for that. I'm also feeling $40 rather than $68 for the bowls, which leaves a nice $685 for the appliances.

But let's see what Margaret -- who apparently sells "kitchen stuff" for a living -- does...

Hybrids are tricky, so I'm not even gonna attempt to make a guess on this one. I rely totally on the discretion of Antonio this time.

Showcases: Kaisha top winner, Denise runner-up (after getting robbed in ½ Off).

1. Sponsored by Electronic Arts Circa 1989
  • Trip to Orlando, FL (5n, Omni Orlando Resort; JM)
    • 2 dinners
    • 2 3-day Walt Disney World passes
      • The sphere of Epcot Center
  • Trip to Machu Picchu, PerĂº (6n, Incaterra Tours; JM)

  • 2013 Nissan Cube (1.8L 4c, 6AT, CVT, splash guards; RR)
Kaisha bids $25,723.
(My bid: $28,947)

And to explain my name for the first Showcase, here's EA's original logo (back when they were, you know, an actual game company and not the evil corporate monstrosity they evolved into as the '90s wore on):
On another note entirely, I never noticed until just now how much the sphere in the EA logo resembled AT&T's "Death Star"...

2. A Relaxation Showcase... The Writing Room's Way of Saying "We Just Ran Out of Themes"
  • Infrared personal sauna (RR)
  • Beachcomber Leep round hot tub (RR)
  • MyBathUSA.com steam shower (RR)
  • Trip to Fiji (6n, Kulu Bay Resort; RR)
    • Unlimited kayak & snorkeling
    • 3 meals/day
Denise bids $25,000.

And that glowing asterisk effect I noticed yesterday? Yeah, it's not there today -- and this was done on the same taping date. Since I didn't notice it on the earlier-aired shows that used the new Showcase podia, I can only now presume that this was either something unintentional or an effect that the producers didn't like. Ah well... I liked it, anyway, but what do I know?

  1. Hey Devin...love the blog. Kashia is my wife and won this date! We will be posting a link to this blog on our social media accounts.. A little backround on a couple of the prize decisions... The first winner, Charles, just had purchased a new car and was hesitant to go for the car, he wanted the stuff, but the crowd swayed his decision. He was uphappy with himself for not going with his gut.. Denise was so gracious and nice... We ended up keeping the motorcycle, the trip to disneyworld, and the nissan cube. We have 2 small kids and the trip to machu picchu was just not in the cards. It was a great time!
