TPiRecap: 17 December 2013

First off, a hearty welcome to everyone on the East Coast feed whose local station pre-empted part of today's episode for snowstorm coverage. ^^; Since WBNS had an uninterrupted feed, here's what you missed.

A win's a win, but why couldn't it have been in a better game? Danger Price, Step Up, Shopping Spree... hell, a revival of Poker Game... just about any multi-prizer is better than Swap Meet! IMO, of course, and I've been groaning at this game for over twenty years, so at least it's got staying power.

Before the game starts, Drew points out Michael in the audience, who actually dressed up as Hans, or "the yodely guy" if you prefer. The actual physical resemblence is quite striking indeed! "He's either super-lucky, or a horrible horrible jinx..."

Note: I'm just guessing that the grill was $40. The director, in his infinite wisdom, chose not to show it to us peons. I do seem to remember seeing it before for that price however, and that's what I'm going with here. With that in mind...

Threshold: 6 (if $40; 16 if $50)

And either way, Cliffy is an easy win once more. ^^

Yes, folks, you read that correctly. Penny spun a dollar on her extra spin, but that tiny little Asterisk of Boo-Worthiness tells the tale. She failed to get the Wheel all the way around on her Bonus Spin, which means she forfeited any bonus money... but in order for the spin to be legal for the Spin-Off, she had to do it over. However, Drew made it quite clear that she doesn't get any bonus money for that dollar. I honestly can't remember anyone ever having a Bonus Spin-Off result like this before (but I'm sure someone will call up a case where it did).

Talk about your bummers. >_< Hopefully this isn't indicative of the way the rest of the show will go...

Here's a game I'm surprised they didn't play last week at all during Bob's birthday celebration, Hole in One (or Two):
2013 Dodge Journey American Value Pkg (AT, 2.4L; $20,585; MO)

(RR drew grocery duty)
  • Wright's Liquid Smoke seasoning
  • Tilamook sweet cream butter (made from non-rBST cows!)
  • Kind Healthy Grains granola bars
  • Gilette Satin Care womens' shave gel
  • The Silver Palate Bleu cheese stuffed olives
  • Dreyer's ice cream (single-serve cup)

Oh my word. Mike is out for BLOOD with this setup. You almost have to think this is his revenge for having to cough up a BMW the last time we saw this game, thanks in no small part to a contestant actually acing the pricing portion for the first time in a long time. Mike's gotta be out to make sure that doesn't happen twice in a row, so he gives us this motely assortment of GPs.

Let's see how bad the damage is...

No pulling it this time. Goes right in!

  1. There was a contestant named Claudia in the mid-to-late 1990s who spun 1.00 on her re-do spinoff bonus spin. So Penny isn't the first one.
