Seriously, what is going on with this kind of bidding lately? This is starting to become a widespread problem.

Safe Crackers for a car:
2014 Kia Soul (1.6L, 6AT, wheel locks; $17,550; AL)

(Actually, Drew, Safe Crackers used to be played for a car on average of once a season for a while. The practice kind of slowed down when 2 for the Price of 1, which features a similar mix of prizes, was introduced in 1989 -- but even after that it wasn't unheard of to see them squeeze a car into the Safe.)

Number malfunctions and all, it still works out to give us a two-in-a-row start. (That reminds me of a trivia note, which I'll follow with a question: Coming or Going is now over a decade old, and is the "newest" game -- if one doesn't count the recent Check Game refurb -- to utilize the Turntable. It's been far too long, guys -- some of us, at least, would like to see a new game played up there. Anyone know if there are any plans in the works for such a game?)

The plane is fueled up and on the tarmac, ready to whisk Roland and Randall off to scenic Leftover Island -- but one of them can still escape this fate. Roland, in fact, has the advantage this time. Can either of them avoid the trip to the Ohio River? We shall see...

Do people even know that the minimum value for an IUFB these days is $500? ...And if they do know it, are those people deliberately weeded out during the contestant-selection process? I've got to know.

Randall, meanwhile, is off to see if he can redeem himself for some of his bizarre bids today with a good showing in Plinko:

Showcases: Deema top winner, Glorisdine runner-up.

1. Let's Float This One By You...
  • Pair of polyester outdoor hanging chairs (AL)
  • Trip to St. Marten (6n, Sonesta Maho Beach Resort & Casino; AL)
    • 2hr kite-surfing lesson
  • Palm Beach 180 Fishmaster party boat w/trailer (RR)
Deema passes; Glorisdine bids $13,000.
(My bid: $31,642)

The Peanut Gallery is nearly ready to riot at that bid, and I can't blame them. $13,000 doesn't even come close to touching that boat by itself, let alone with a St. Marten trip attached to it.

2. Earn Your Masters Degree at Barker University (Dean: P. Price, Ph. D., emeritus)
  • Apple iPad Mini (32GB) w/smart cover (RR)
  • Trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina (6n, Palermo Place; RR)
    • Daily breakfast
    • Round-trip airport transportation
    • Private sightseeing tour
  • 2014 Ford Focus S (2.0L, 5MT, power door locks; AL)
Deema bids $20,000.

  1. It seems rather obvious that the smarter and more dedicated contestants are being weeded out after that New Year's spectacular and the perfect show following it. The bidding in contestants row and the showcase the last few episodes has become infuriating to the point where I want to throw a book in the faces of those who bid poorly.

  2. Tell me about it. Even I was victim to lowball bidding when I did the recap!

  3. I wonder if Card Game (which has yet to appear this season, I believe) would still work if it moved to the Turntable? You could give it a similar set-up to Shell Game -- Drew behind the table, contestant at the side. You'd just have to move the display, methinks. Or even make a smaller table for the cards and have the price display on a separate stand next to it with the slot for the limit (if that makes sense)?

    1. Card Game has been MIA for close to two years now, and nobody seems to be talking as regards its current status -- in the shop for a refurb, or just scrapped entirely. I'm hesitant to declare it "dead" at this point, because we all thought Barker's Bargain Bar and Check Game were long gone, but I don't see a lot of clamoring for its return even among those corners of fandom where such clamoring would be expected. It may well be retired at this point. Frankly, I just don't know one way or the other -- but you will notice than in my weekly stat posts I've stopped listing it with the rest of the "active" Pricing Games.

I like your idea to move the game to the Turntable, though it'd take some adjusting to.
