I see a little green $ on the floor, so that must mean it's time for Depression House Pay the Rent:

(AL gives, RR receives)
  • Castrol GTX motor oil (SAE 10W-30)
  • Smucker's strawberry syrup
  • The Silver Plate stuffed olives
  • PayDay candy bar
  • Dole diced pears (4 snack cups)
  • Thomas' Bagel Thins

Tougher than usual, even for this game -- I legitimately have no idea what should go in the attic, whereas I can usually at least puzzle that one out.

After careful consideration, here's What I'd Do:
Mailbox: Olives
1st Floor: Pears + syrup
2nd Floor: Bagels + candy bar
Attic: Motor oil

And I'm probably way off on that one. (Story of my day so far. No, I won't get into it.)

Here, then, is how Jason plays it:

Candy bar

Syrup

$10,000
$7.28

Motor oil
$5.99

$100,000
$5.99

Man, was I ever way off this time.

Solution:
Mailbox: Bagels = $4.29
1st Floor: Pears ($3.49) + Syrup ($2.99) = $6.48
2nd Floor: Motor oil ($5.99) + Candy bar (99¢) = $6.98
Attic: Olives = $7.49

(Reader Jonathan Kraemer has discovered an alternate solution, which you can read in the Comments section below.  Major kudos to him for finding it.)

I begin to fear we've gone right back to contestants thinking the cheapest item has to go in the mailbox -- which is almost always the worst thing to do here. This isn't Hole in One, you're not trying to put them in order from least to most expensive. Play it that way and you'll never win the hundred grand.

Moving right along...

I was going to say the pool table was the best bet, until George laid the computer's specs on me. 256GB solid state drive? Yeah, that's gonna set you back a bit more than the $950 it's showing -- or so I think. My luck being what it is, it's probably still the posted price and the pool table is wrong. (The washer and dryer are pretty obviously correct if you know anything about price patterns.)

...What the heck, I'll go against my better judgment when it comes to computers. Pool table.

And this is, in fact, what Concepción does as well...

Haven't had an outright winner yet today, just a bailout on Pay the Rent and a glorified consolation prize from Any Number. Amanda's $11K bonus helped a lot, but it's just bonus cash. Time for a last-minute rally, guys...

Didn't even have to "scroll" my little window on Hans's climb this time. And so that monkey's off my back. ^^;

Leftover Island has been a lonely place all week -- we haven't had to send anyone there yet -- but now we're about to do a two-fer on the shuttle plane. Robert and Cecily both stand on the verge of banishment to the frozen wastelands of the Ohio River valley... but one of them can hopefully still dodge this bullet. Unfortunately, neither will have the advantage going into this final one-bid. What will come of this?

Last time we saw Dicey, we had a major run of good luck. Will we be paying the piper for that today?

Well, the 2 is basically as good as an automatic, and she did all you can do for the 4 and 3 in those positions, which is to play the odds.

Fingers crossed, and...

Sometimes, all you can do is play the hand you're dealt the best you can, and that's what Cecily did here. This loss wasn't anyone's fault, it just happened. Still, that hurt.
