Valentines' Day Wedding Shower Spectacular

Not only is today's the first aired episode to have been taped in the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand and Fourteen, but as you can tell by a double-occupancy Contestants' Row, it's one of our "pairs" shows. This time, naturally, it's engaged couples playing the games.

Couples are listed in the order George initially calls their names.

1. Jeff Cooper 14K white gold wedding bands (JE)

Let's kick off the festivities with Pick-a-Pair for a prize all of our couples today will be needing soon:
Magge Sottero bridal gown, 3 bridesmaids' dresses, & 4 mens' tuxedos ($6,355; RW, RR)

The back wall of Pick-a-Pair has been decorated with five candy-heart graphics -- you know, the kind with sayings like "BE MINE," "PICK ME," and "TRUE LOVE," and which invariably end up tasting like antacids?

  • Kashi Heart to Heart cereal
  • Progresso Heart Healthy soup (Italian wedding soup, what else?)
  • Walgreens Delish red velvet caramels (fabled in CC plugs since two weeks ago)
  • Vlasic homestyle relish
  • Orange Crush soda (12 cans) (get it?)
  • Handi-Foil Bake America heart-shaped foil pans w/lids

Bizarre GPs usually lead to disaster even in easy games...

And as we apparently try to set a record for "Most Expensive Day Ever For the One-Bids" (already at $6,355 with four more to go), let's play some Six-Digit Squeeze Play for a car (it must be that time of year):
2014 Scion xT (1.8L, 4AT, FWD, carpeted mats, cargo mat; RR)

I wonder what the record actually is for the most ever offered in Contestants' Row. Right now we've broken the five-figure barrier (currently standing at $11,718) for the first time... ever, so far as I am aware. I'll have to go look that up.

Side by Side, an appropriately-named game for a theme like today's:

Also, confirmed: The most ever given away in Contestants' Row was $15,092, which occurred on 20 September 2010. [1] As of this one-bid, we now stand at $12,264. If the next IUFB is worth at least $2,829, that record will fall today.

Oh, Drew, no. Lead us not into Temptation, please:

Hey, this could actually be something here... Only our second outright Tempty winner since February 2007.

HE LOVES US!

FINALLY! I never thought I'd see a Temptation win again! (The one other time Tempty was won in the Carey Administration was during my hiatus last year, and I missed out on it totally.)

Akira, Samantha, I take it all back! You guys did great!

What can I say, except possibly...

...in honor of Christopher and Lindsey, still down there at the Cranberry Podium, but it certainly applies here as well.

Randall & Susanne could be spending their honeymoon on Leftover Island if they're not careful... luckily for them, they have the advantage. Will they make it, will Christopher & Lindsey lead the Yes Movement onstage, or will something totally unexpected happen?

Looks like it's the "unexpected" option this time. And the record was not broken (we're $1,230 short).

Hey, remember last year's wedding show, where with a little help from Hans Yodelyguy we gave away a dream wedding to Aruba? We're about to do it again, this time in Secret "X":
Your nuptials will be performed on the sandy beaches of Cancún, México (for TWENTY-TWO, Apple Vacations, 7n, Riu Palace Penninsula; $33,000; RR)

...Oh man, we're gonna get it from the vocal minority now that thinks everything Mike Richards does is a mortal sin, aren't we...

Ouch. After a second half like that, that hurt.

Drew tries to help take a little bit of the sting out of this by throwing it to George for one more audience giveaway: All the couples in the BBS today, including the four on stage at this moment, will be getting $100 gift cards from B★Wedding Invitations. (Off the board winnings, not counted in final tally below) And yes, you at home can win one too...

Still, an ultra-rare Temptation win and over $69,000 given away in the second half... this day's hardly a total loss. Still, what a sour note to end the week on.

Regradless of everything else, Happy Valentines' Day to all lovebirds everywhere, and we'll see you back here on Monday where we'll be doing this all over again!

(Oh, and remember Christopher and Lindsey, our Daniel Bryan fans? They're doing the YES! thing as the camera pans over the Peanut Gallery during the closing credits. I think I saw a few people doing it with 'em, too. Hey, Vince...)
