He was doing fine until the tens digit, where the Five Trap™ claimed yet another victim.

Protip: In Lucky $even, if you start off with two large digits (ignoring the ten thousands place), you should think "low" for the following numbers. And, naturally, the vice is also versa. Also, it's not usually the best idea to call for a 5 until you get down to the last digit, though I can't really call it a "rule of thumb."

And here's a universal tip for all "one number at a time" car games: You can no longer ignore the ten thousands digit, even if the show spots it to you. If it's a 1, the thousands number is high. If it's a 2, the thousands number is low. Use this to plan your bidding accordingly. (This applies to most standard cars offered on the show; you're on your own for the luxury models, when and if they pop up.)

Okay, geekery over, let's get back to the show now...

It's In the Bag:

...Okay. Normally, I don't mind it when Drew says something like "People win this game all the time." Maybe he says it a bit too often, but I can appreciate the sentiment behind it; it's trying to put the contestant at ease when presented with a game that looks very difficult, by reminding them it's still winnable no matter how hard it may seem (it has to be winnable, per S&P). I have no issue with that, as far as it goes. However, in the case of Baggy... no, Drew, people do not "win this game all the time." While it's true that some people are smart enough to know when to hit the bailout button so they at least walk away with some money (unlike, say, Gas Money, where it seems people refuse to acknowledge the existence of a bailout button), an outright $16,000 winner in this game only happens about once or maybe twice a season for the past several years now. There's putting contestants at ease, and then there's blowing smoke up their rear ends. Using that comment for Baggy leans much more towards the latter than the former. If anything, this game needs Drew's other approach -- the "I'm not gonna lie to you, this is a tough game, but it can be done" line.

  • Zest body bars (are not soap, regardless of what the placard says) (3)
  • TGIFriday's chicken wings
  • One a Day teen vitamins
  • Vlasic bread and butter pickle chips
  • Mentos chewing gum
  • Lysol No Mess toilet bowl cleaners (2)
Second time in a row, they've switched the first two bags so that now the most expensive GP goes in the first bag, and the least expensive in the second. Once more and I'll start calling it a "thing," but for now it's still an aberration. Not that it matters in the end, of course; easy bags are easy.

Awesome so far! But I worry about the pickles... I'm pretty sure $3.99 is a good price for the toilet bowl cleaner, but a bit much for that pickle jar.

You would've thought, given the predisposition most stage players have towards round numbers whenever possible, $40 and $930 would've been natural picks. Oh well.
