TPiRecap: 13 March 2014 (Road to Recovery Edition)

Right out of the gate, I need to apologize to everyone for being incommunicado for the last few days. The crazy weather lately took its toll on my health like you wouldn't believe. Made it very difficult for me to sit at a computer and do this for a few days.

I'm fine now, though, so with a special thanks to tpirrules1972 over at GSP for filling in for me yesterday (and an assurance that A) I have all the stats I need and B) you didn't miss much of anything noteworthy), let's continue...

Now....or Then:
Yamaha VX Deluxe WaveRunner w/trailer ($10,584; RR)

Okay, a relatively easy game, but for a five-digit prize (albeit only just five digits). This may not end well.

  • Birdola Plus bird food
  • Pam cooking spray (6oz)
  • IcyHOT pain relief patch
  • Allegra allergy relief (15 tablets) ***ANACHRONISM ALERT***
  • Hershey's semi-sweet chocolate chips (12oz)
  • (What would you do for) Klondike ice cream bars (6)

Actually, Allegra may have been around in 1996, but as a perscription drug. It's only been in recent years that it's become an OTC thing, unless my memory is shot (and it may well be). Regardless, the price it's showing is so obviously a NOW it hurts.

Okay, you can rule out the 6 right now, because the XBone is still (almost) brand-new and thus wouldn't be under $500 anyway. Unfortunately, the nature of the Piggy Bank means it could literally be any of the 1, 2, or 4, meaning you only have a one-in-three chance of the game continuing.

And a sigh of relief is felt throughout the Towers. Now it's a 50-50 proposition -- is that tens digit 4 or 1? (Again, logically ruling out the 6.)

Balance Game:

(Rob lifts. He seriously does, too.)

...This game is not that difficult, and wouldn't be if the prices haven't been so bloody deceptive lately. I've no objection to making contestants work for it, but when a relatively simple "quickie" like Balance Game has yet to post a single win 23⅔ weeks into the season, you're making them work too hard for it.

Megan escaped in our last segment, now it's Beth's last chance to do so. Luckily, she has the advantage. Will Beth be the first person all week to be banished to Leftover Island? Let's find out...

  1. For the record, do you believe "Gas Money" and "Stack the Deck" should be retired? I honestly believe the former should definitely be retired if they don't change the rules involving picking the "CAR" right off the bat. As for "Stack the Deck", I can't believe she only missed one number after getting only one grocery product right, but it should still be retired due to its poor win record. Again, do you think the games should be retired?

    1. Stack the Deck, absolutely. I would even run a contest where the winner would get the honor of taking the first axe to the prop. As for Gas Money... no, I wouldn't retire it at all. I'd adopt the rule change you suggest, or maybe I'd bump it up to luxury-car status as was done with 3 Strikes. The problems with Gas Money do not stem from the game itself, but rather the way it has been set up by Mike Richards to be as evil and misleading as possible while still staying within S&P regulations.

  2. Did u see the look on the guys face when he turned around in the audiencewhen Stephanie's daughter was jumping up and down with her belly hanging out? Total hilarity!!!
