TPiRecap: 17 March 2014 (St. Patrick's Day Spectacular)

Happy St. Patty's Day, folks! (A friendly reminder from your pals at TPiRecap Towers: If you're gonna be out partying tonight, be safe. Know your limits, designate a driver, and be on the lookout for those who will do neither of those things.)

Speaking of reminders, this is going to be a very short week. As a matter of fact, today's show will be the only first-run episode to air before next Monday! Thanks in no small part to March Madness, it's reruns and pre-emptions for the rest of the week. On the other hand, according to my schedule, this should be the last significant interruption before the summer break; after this week it appears to be a straight shot all the way to the end of the season, which is actually closer than you think -- as of next Monday we'll only be about fourteen weeks away from it. Time flies, does it not... after all, it seems like just a few hours ago we were ringing in 2014, and here it is already St. Patrick's Day.

Speaking of which...

What better game to play on St. Patty's Day than the one that follows that old "pot of gold at the end of the rainbow" motif. I'm sure you know the one:
  1. Apple iPod collection (2GB Shuffle, pair of 16GB Nanos, 160GB Classic; RR)
  2. Honda Recon ES ATV & Kawasaki KLX-140L offroad motorcycle (RW)
  3. 2014 Mercedes-Benz E350 Cabriolet (3.5L, 7AT, premium pkg, rear deck spoiler, car cover, "pic-a-nic" basket, & PYRE O'TECHNICS!; RR)

Oddly, Drew does not the usual spiel here and say the Mercedes is... let's say, "Over $60,000" or something like that. Which, according to Google at least, would be what he'd say here. By Golden Road standards, that's a cheapie.

Protip: Remember, the game is Most Expen$ive. If one of the three prizes includes ad copy that states, in so many words, that "It's lesser at Plesser's" (emphasis mine)... that's probably a clue it's not the most expensive. I'd go with the home gym, myself.

We gave Hans the day off to go get his leiderhosen washed. (Finding a dry cleaner willing to touch authentic imitation Bavarian outfits can be tricky...) Filling in today is Hans's Irish cousin, Darby O'Yodelyguy, resplendent in red beard, green top hat, pointed buckled shoes, and the family eye...

A quick note about stats: Since this is the only episode this week, there's no need to do a full-on stats post. What you see here is what you get. These numbers will, of course, be incorporated into the running totals for the season; it's not like a summer special where the episode exists in its own little parallel universe.

Enjoy the rest of you St. Patrick's Day, and the basketball this week if you're so inclined... we'll see you back here next Monday to begin the last big stretch!

  1. I just thought you would enjoy this. Just watched an episode of "Diff'rent Strokes" that featured Geoff Edwards as a TV reporter. It was from season 3 titled "The Bank Job".
