TPiRecap: 30 April 2014

This week has been brutal so far. However, new day, fresh start. Let's see if we can't change course today.

Could this be an omen? We shall see.

Things are indeed starting to look up... Step Up, that is:
  1. Christian Dior designer leather shoes (AL)
  2. Samsung 64" plasma HDTV (AL)
  3. Piaggio Fly 153V motorscooter (RR)
  4. Microsoft XBox One game console w/games & accessories (RR)

Always nice to see this relative rarity played -- at least for me it is.

Obviously you should start with the XBox. Unfortunately, after that it gets dicey. Normally my gut would say the shoes would be next, but I dunno... Christian Dior... it could be a trap.

...Well, at least that's interesting. Can't tell you the last time I saw a zero among the digits. Unfortunately, we know the story don't we... she'll put the zero in the ones place and be utterly wrong.

.Since there's no way that's a $25,000 car, it really all comes down to Pick-a-Number with the ones digit... is it 5, 7, or 9?

Unfortunately, it's about equally likely to be any of them. I'll go with 7, however, because of a gut feeling.

...Now you go with a 5 in the ones digit?! Ugh.

Funny thing is, however, right up until that 3 went into the tens place, I had a 5 as the last digit myself. My original prediction was $19,375, then $20,195 after the 1 was revealed. I only changed at the last minute because of cold feet. >_<

With an IUFB lke that, we've gotta be sending Roger (or is it his identical twin, Robert, also in the Peanut Gallery?) on a trip if he wins Balance Game:
Indeed, to Puerta Vallarta, México (5n, Canto del Sol; RR)

I'm thinking five grand for this one, just because $7K seems like too much for a five-nighter (even with an international border crossing involved) and $4K isn't nearly enough.

Balance Game remains winless for the season, and we remain winless for the episode. One almost has to believe this is being done on purpose, if one is given to believe such things are done deliberately. (But then, life experiences also suggest to me the people who do believe such things also tend to wear tinfoil underwear and believe alien dinosaurs have replaced the brains of our world leaders with Folger's Crystals, or something equally asinine.)

Meanwhile, back in the real world, it's time to ward off the skunk for the second straight day.

If it's any consolation, Tara, I did precisely the same thing you did. (I had that car being $21,995 in my brain or thereabouts.)

Things are very serious now, as we're staring down the barrel of serious fumigation procedures unless we salvage at least one win today...

Teri, you represent our last chance to escape the tomato juice. You'll have to do it with a little Math:
  1. Crystal 2-person sauna (RR)
  2. Apple 15" MacBook Pro (8GB RAM, quad-core, speakers, Epson AIO; AL)
The sauna is probably the more expensive of this pair. Thus, my gut says to subtract hree.

Teri agrees... as we all cross our fingers and hope Pepé doesn't notice us...

We dodged the bullet again... but why do we have to cut these things so close? And no, my tinfoil-wearing friends, this isn't all on Mike Richards either, because a lot of these setups aren't even that hard.

  1. I played this showcase and I picked the "Earth Wind and Fire" showcase and just my luck, I won both of them missing my bid by only $132. For the record, I bid... $22,500.
