I'm not sure why, but I'm gravitating towards the 9 having to come out here. I think it's the lack of tack-ons with that trip, which suggests a relative cheapie.

  3. Samsung 55" LED HDTV (RR)
  4. BCBG leather handbag & ankle boots (RR)

The accessories are pretty safe this time -- they're never a nice round number like this -- and I'm fairly certain the elliptical is comfortably under $2K. Given price patterns, I'm gonna go with the TV as the one to avoid in this setup.

But let's see what Shondale does...
(Elliptical trainer: $1,299; Handbag & shoes: $578)

Somehow, I was afraid something like that would happen. Meh.

Another rousing start to the day...

We'll get to Adam's game in just a moment. But first, let's have a brand new camera angle on Door #3 to reveal what he's playing for, as if you couldn't guess by now:
2014 Volkswagen Golf (2.5L, 6AT; RR)

...which Rachel then proceeds to "drive" out of Door #3 and right to Home Base, which has been transformed into "Carey's Card Club" according to the Plinko Plasma.

Something else is at Home Base, too -- the newly-refurbished, back in the lineup after a few years in limbo, Card Game.

Bet you weren't expecting that, were ya? Nice surprise!

The game has been given a great-looking facelift, with a logo and plasma-screen bid display that resemble the iconic "Welcome to Las Vegas" sign. What could be more fitting?

A quick refresher course on the rules, since it's been a while since we last saw Card Game: First, Adam must draw one card from a special deck of seven, which will show him how close he has to come to the ARP of the car without going over:

Range
$3,000

When last we saw Card Game there were two each of $1,000, $2,000, and $3,000 cards, with a single $5,000 as the best you could do. It appears this distribution remains unchanged with the facelift.

With the range established and a starting bid of $15,000 posted, Adam will now draw from a fanned-out deck of 52 standard playing cards. Each card drawn will increase his bid; $100 × face value for 2-10, and $1,000 for a face card. Aces are wild and can be used to make his bid anything he wishes (with the exception that he cannot use an Ace to reduce his bid), and can be held in reserve until needed. He can stop at any time he feels the bid is within range to win the car.

And with that, let's formally welcome Card Game back to the active-duty roster, hopefully with a win!

Strikes me as a good idea. I was thinking somewhere between $19-21K for that Golf. Fingers crossed...

No more Showcase-style reveal; instead, the ARP appears right on the scoreboard, with a convenient range display to go with:

Range
$17,900 to $20,900

WIN!

Just got it under the wire!

Great re-debut for Card Game, and now the only thing we need to know is the final fate of Credit Card...

Hi-Lo continues our trend of Oldies But Goodies:
Groceries (52 wks) & gasoline (12 gal/wk for 52 wks) for 1 year ($5,594; DG)

  • Capzasin pain reliever
  • Hungry Jack Diner Style hashbrowns
  • Ivory body wash (24oz)
  • Garlique supplement
  • Ziploc divided storage containers (2)
  • Pam cooking spray (18oz)

The Capzasin and the Garlique are blindingly obvious picks for the Hi row, but the third spot could go to either the containers or the body wash. I'm leaning more toward the body wash myself, but it really could go either way.
