Now, if it's me, I'm changing the 8 to a 6 for $16,457. And, apparently, if it's Michael as well, because that's precisely what he does. Let's see if we're both full of it...

WIN!

Now, all we have to do is hope, once again, that this isn't the high point of the day. As long as we get even one more bona fide winner we'll be doing better than we have all week (I swear I typoed that as "weak" at first) up to today.

LOSS

Well, that kicks us down to three unbeatens this season -- Bonus Game, Now....or Then, and Shell Game. As for Magic #, I've gotta believe, based on what I've been hearing, that this game is due for an overhaul soon. Apparently the equipment is getting sketchy in its old age (the game is almost twenty-two years old after all -- an eternity for a TV prop that includes sensitive and difficult-to-service electronics) and, as previously noted in this space, takes so long to boot up that it can never be played during the first half of the show.

Or they could just shrug their shoulders and hold on to it, keeping it to a minimum of appearances during a season. You just never know with this staff sometimes, do you?

Gas Money:
2014 Honda Insight LX hybrid (1.3L, CVT; RR)

Seriously? This game for a hybrid? I feel a cloud of doom hovering over the studio.

$19,890
$18,725
$20,585
$21,665
$17,480

$17,480 is the only price that I can say with any degree of certainity is probably safe to pick. Hybrids are the "designer accessories" of the automotive sect; you just never know how much (or how little) they really cost.

Jonathan's best hope is to simply ignore the prices and play this game by the odds (4-1 against picking the car price on his first try), then hopefully be able to bail out once the bank gets high enough.

Pick #1: $17,480
$2000
Go on...
$19,890
$18,725
$20,585
$21,665
$2,000

Unfortunately, it could now be anywhere. Again, best bet is to play the odds (3-1 in Jonathan's favor at this point) and ignore prices.

Pick #2: $18,725

Of course, even if one does play the odds, that can still happen. >_<

The one thing we haven't done a lot of this week, as far as the "negative" column is concerned, is populate Leftover Island. But Sheri is looking down the barrel of banishment all the same. Luckily for her, she's got the advantage... will it be enough?

  2. HP Envy Phoenix desktop computer (27" display, 16GB RAM, 2TB HD, printer; MA)
  3. Firetainment all-season propane fire table

Thanks to the Plessers plug, the washer and dryer we know are to be avoided. At least some of us do.

Unfortunately, one of those who doesn't know about that little trick is Teresa. Argh.

For future reference to all contestants: When a prize comes from a website that boasts about its low prices in its slogan ("It's lesser at Plessers!"), it's probably a good idea to avoid that prize in a game called MOST Expen$ive.

And so ends the week that was in Pricing Games... final record, five outright and indisputable wins, two partials/bailouts, one win under the Plinko Fudge Rule, and twenty-two losses. Is it Season 43 yet?

Caption of Doom™ in the end credits:"A discrepancy was found in the price of a prize and was rectified post-taping."

That can mean absolutely anything, but since there's no verbiage to the effect that any outcomes were changed as a result of this discrepancy, whatever it was, I'm going to assume the correction was inserted into the finished episode during post-production and thus my numbers are still accurate.

And thankfully, that closes the books on what has been one of the most depressing weeks of Price is Right in quite some time, at least from a winnings standpoint. Full stats to follow shortly.

See you Monday, when
hopefully things will look better.
