TPiRecap: 13 June 2014

With the return of my cable service, we're back in business today. But doesn't it just figure that this would have happened on a day where both 2 for the Price of 1 and Master Key were won for their respective first times in Season 42? Ah well, such are the vagaries of life...

Today's episode appears to have been rescheduled from an earlier date, but I can't pin down exactly when it was originally set to air; the production number and VTR date suggest early May.

Let's take one last stroll down the Golden Road for the year, at least I presume it'll be the last, and hope this one ends better than it has for the past seven years:
  1. Bradley 6-rack digital smoker w/96 bisquettes (RR)
  2. Beachcomber Hybrid hot tub (DG)
  3. 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray coupe 1LT (6.2L V8, 6AT paddle shift, red-padded brake calipers(?), 3LT preferred eqp grp, premium carpeted mats, battery charger, PYRO!; over $65,000; )

First, the dead giveaway...

And then, the tricky one...

Hot tub

Maybe not so tricky after all. Remember the unwritten rule, amigos: No digits ever repeat themselves in the first two prices, for the purposes of the multiple-choice question. With both a 6 and a 9 in this price, that leaves only one option, if you'll pardon the pun...

Your options are $65,945, $65,145, $65,645, and $65,745. You're as well to play this strictly as a game of chance and hope the 25% odds of being correct work out in your favor.

I'd go with 1 or 7, if I had the gun to my head.

This is what Megan does...

And you know what that means...

...it's time for Enter key abuse...

...as we're about to see if Golden Road can finally snap its years-long losing streak...

...it hasn't been won since 2008, and that on a primetime MDS...

...but maybe today will be different...

...as Drew pulls that red tab...

...to show us...

YET MORE FRUSTRATION

I've been keeping track, and I think I've sussed something out here: More often than not, the correct digit for the biggie will be the same as the correct digit for the four-digit prize. Granted it's not that much of a majority, but it's still enough to where you should go with it if there's ever any doubt. And once you reach this level of play, "doubt" is very much the name of the game.

Some might say that nobody cares about an episode after Golden Road isn't taken for all it's worth. While I confess that it's tough to rebound after that, we must try as best we can to put the disappointment behind us and soldier on. We can do naught else.

If we can safely assume $50 for the iced tea maker, then the other prices naturally fall into place at $813 for the kayak and $6,621 for the trip. At least, that's my mindset.

YOU BET IT IS!

Four-for-five, and even the odd game out still saw someone take home over $11,000 in goodies. But for zagging when we should've zigged on that Corvette, I'd say today is quite good indeed.

Of course, there's still one game left, and it's a car game. The potential for rough weather still applies.

And while all this winning is going on, Michelle has had to watch helplessly from the Cherry Podium all day long. This is her last chance to take part in all the sound and fury. Can she pull it off, or will she end up spending her weekend on the Ohio River? Let's find out...

  1. I watched the show all the way through, i found nothing on credit cards return from golden-road.net as the price is right wiki is predicting it comes back early season 43. that's all i found there devin.

I think we will see the golden road game won at some point, there is hope.

what would be your ideal golden road? mine would start with a keurig vue, it would lead me to a sauna, from the sauna i would go to a 3D HDTV, and at the end i would have a 2015 kia k900 with the V8 VIP package.
