TPiRecap: 17 June 2014

Okay, OKAY, I confess! In a comment yesterday, I rather badly muffed some airdates for upcoming episodes. (I was kinda distracted by US vs. Ghana...)

Here, then, is the official, verified with priceisright.com, schedule for what is to come after this week. Take notes, this will be on the test:

Back to School Special

So here, then, is the deal: This is the final full week of legitimate first-run episodes. Next Monday and Tuesday will be make-goods, then the (intended) last three episodes of the season will air. Reruns on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday of the following week (30 June - 4 July), with Wednesday being the last make-good (barring any more news-related interruptions this week or next) and Friday being the Fourth of July Spectacular. After that, summer vacation officially begins and -- with the exception of the Back to School Special in August -- we're outta here until 22 September.

For the curious stat-mongers out there, I will continue to keep stats all the way up to 4 July this year. After that I'm declaring the books "closed" on Season 42, with the August special being considered its own separate thing. That week will be counted as a short one of just two episodes, and the stat post for that week will feature a full wrap-up of the entire season with additional stats and observations.

And so, if we're all clear on that, you can all stop emailing me about my slipup. ^^;

Meanwhile, back at the ranch...

Gonna try to recover after yesterday's skunking. The good news is, there's really only one direction left to go, so go there we must.

  3. LG washer & dryer (RR)

$999
$3229
$2300
LED HDTV
Home gym
Washer/dryer

Based on these prices, it seems pretty obvious (to me, anyway) that the home gym is the one mispriced. LG-po TVs can and sometimes do end in -99 rather than the usual -00, and that washer/dryer price also looks good.

Adding to the pain, Jason and the Peanut Gallery actually had the right idea at first -- he was gonna listen to their advice, but at the last minute changed his mind to what you saw. >_<

Ashley office furniture & Apple 27" Mac Pro computer (12GB RAM, 256GB Flash, printer; $6,336; GOS)

  • Dr Pepper Ten soda (2L)
  • Cracker Jack popcorn snack (8.5oz)
  • Musco Family Early California stuffed queen olives
  • King Oscar sardines in extra virgin olive oil
  • Ace bandage

For the first time in several years, there's no discernable theme to these products. I stand corrected; gameshowmaniac on the GSP forum was able to point out the pattern:  Dr Pepper Ten... Cracker Jack... Queen olives... King Oscar... and an Ace bandage.  Royal flush.  Can't believe I didn't catch that...

Well, Pathy has been a hit-or-miss prospect this year; played eleven times, won four. For Pathy, that's actually pretty good. I wonder which way the winds will blow this time...

Showcases: Ashley top winner, Lei Lei runner-up. But between the two of 'em, they've only won $1,385... let's see if we can change their luck a little, eh?

1. A Charming Showcase
  • Helen Ficalora charm necklace (GG)
  • Trip to Rockland, ME (6n, Tidewater Motel & Gathering Place; GOS)
    • Old-world charm
    • 1 cruise around Penobscott Bay

  • 2014 Ford Mustang V6 coupe (3.7L V6, 6AT, power windows, the third prize is the charm; RR)
Ashley bids $25,000.
(My bid: $29,473)

Mustangs in the Showcase are usually overbid bait, but I think Ashley dodged that particular bullet...

    • Motorcycle rental
  • Sea-Doo Spark personal watercraft w/trailer & life jacket (RR)

  1. I sure hope this week doesn't wind up like the week of January 11, 2010, where only three games were won for the whole week. With only one game won out of 12 so far, we seem to be eerily on pace to threaten that "record"...

  2. 1WP: The moment I saw $999 for the TV, I knew that was too low.
Grocery: They always say "Don't be a hero," and this is why. Sometimes being a 1-hit wonder's not worth it.
