Socially Awkward Awesome! Week #3

Today's big gimmick is a Second Screen Experience™: During the broadcast of the show, on both the East and West Coast feeds, you could point your browser to the official PriceIsRight.com website to watch special behind-the-scenes footage that gives you an idea of what goes on during a taping that you don't always get to see in the finished product. Unfortunately, recapping these online segments is beyond the scope of this blog, so you won't be seeing a full account of them here.

One thing I will mention, however, is that during the opening of the show we actually get to follow Drew as he walks from his dressing room to Door #2 for his intro, and during this walk we see a few interesting things -- including what look like pieces of the old doors being used as backstage dividers. We also kinda see that Door #1 is used to store some extra set pieces that might be needed during a taping, such as $ statues and car backgrounds.

The handheld even follows Drew through the doors as we get things started, and they show off the various backstage cameras that'll be part of this latest Great Experiment.

A little unfortunate confusion reigns, as Rebecca thinks hers was the bid that caused the bells to ring, but alas, not this time.

That's Too Much!:
2014 Chevrolet Camaro 1LS (3.6L V6, 6MT, RWD, sport suspension; RR)

After finally snapping a fourteen-game skid, can we put together two wins in a row on this toughie?

Easy for me. The scooters can only be $5,298, which leaves the other two choices obvious.

And that's actually one of the arrangements Jennifer has, but she lets the Peanut Gallery spook her into... well, this:

I'm looking for ways that this could've been worse, but I'm not finding anything. At least this setup made it impossible for Jennifer or anyone else to hit my personal Berzerk Button when it comes to paired prizes (i.e., there was no way to end that price in an odd number). Lesson to be learned, amigos: Don't let the Peanut Gallery make you second-guess yourself. Their track record isn't the best, especially in the last few seasons.

You can tell Richard and Joseph shop for a lot of jewelry. But hey, at least they didn't do what most stage players do and automatically assume it's cheap stuff. (Now if only this could apply to cookware...)

Check-Out:

Yogurt = $1.19
Pears = $4.99
Mouthwash = $6.99
Total = $19.45

Drew points out he's wearing special glasses today -- they look like his normal hornrims, but these have a video camera embedded in them, giving those of you watching the backstage cameras a Drew's-eye view of the BBS and letting you see exactly what he sees. Neat idea!

  1. Tory Burch designer accessories (RR)
  2. CalFlame gas barbecue (AL)

We get a live Tweet from someone who was actually at this taping. Thankfully, @mel04244 doesn't drop any spoilers on us!

This looks, feels, and smells like you should pick the accessories in this setup... so my gut reaction is to go with the barbecue, because this whole thing has "trap" written all over it.

Michelle holds on to the $6,180 in gifts, however, which is honestly hard to blame her for... except, this time, I think she may have actually had it. Let's see.

WELL, THEN

Not even close, as it turns out. Who knew?

Alas, poor Rebecca... After that awful misunderstanding on the first IUFB of the day, she's now staring down the barrel of banishment. But there's still a chance she can avoid ignominy. All she has to do is get it right this last time around... Can she do it?

(WBNS does a little fake-out on me by inserting a weather alert during the commercial break -- tornado warning in the 10TV viewing area -- but it actually doesn't become a full-blown break-in and Price resumes as normal, albeit with a crawl at the bottom of the screen.)

  1. I guess today's episode was an attempt by the staff to make its own Golden Gallery. I sure hope I don't have to register anywhere to see it! -_-;

    That's Too Bad, Waluigi Time! can actually be won twice in a row!?! O_o

    Today's playing of Bargain Game used that dance remix of The Cats for its cue. Back when it was called "Barker's Bargain Bar", the game often used the original cue. So, yeah; nice homage there by the staff, whether they realize it or not! :D

    I agree with the guy who tweeted that Melissa was cute! ^^
