TPiRecap: 9 June 2014

Back to normal today, as promised... no more live Tweets, no more pushing this or that social-media platform.

First Four
Brittany, Joshua, Theresa, Clifton
Lineup
Random
Models
Manuela Abreález, Amy Purdy, Rachel Reynolds

Looks like we're back to having guest models -- and for that matter, a three-model lineup. Amy Purdy is a bronze-medal winning snowboarder who was also featured on Dancing With the Stars. She also has two prosthetic feet, which I'm almost positive is a first for any game show model, even a guest-star one.

Protip: Just because a trip is being offered as an IUFB, doesn't necessarily mean it's a cheapie. Remember to listen to George when he tells you how long the trip is for; the show isn't giving you this information for their own health, after all...

It's In the Bag:
  • Concentrated Motrin pain relief drops for infants (1oz)
  • Jack Link's beef jerky (3.25oz)
  • The Return of a Legend... Hot Pockets!
  • General Mills Lucky Charms cereal (16oz)
  • Justin's maple almond butter (single packet)
  • Dawn Platinum dishwashing liquid (20 fl oz)

And here are your prices:
$1.49
$9.99
$6.99
$2.69
$3.99

If it were me... Obviously the almond butter goes in $1.49 and the Motrin in $9.99. After that... hmm. I'd probably go with $6.99 for the beef jerky, $2.69 for the Hot Pockets, and $3.99 for the cereal.

This, however, is not my game, it's Theresa's, and this is how she plays things:

Hands up, everyone who groaned when she put the dish soap on $2.69, and who did so again when she let the Peanut Gallery bully her out of $4,000.

People ask what I mean when I talk about the "advantage" of bidding last. Clifton and Theresa are the textbook examples of what I mean when I say that.

For a Jetta... hmm. I can never keep it straight if it's the Jetta or the Golf that's the "cheap" model VW these days. If the Jetta is the cheapie, my prediction is $19,580. If it isn't, $21,565.

Let's see how it plays out...

On the bright side, she did at least call one prize true... that's better than most others do. (Seriously, is it that beyond belief that the show could be giving you a correct price in this game?)

Richard subtracts...
Given how random barbecues can be on this show, I can't honestly blame him. This could easily have been a trap, but it wasn't.

  1. Thank God they didn't degenerate today into a Very Special Episode™ and shove Amy's prosthetic legs down our throats! -_-;

As for the rest of the episode...
    * There used to be a time not long ago when trips to Palm Springs WERE that cheap, and I think Drew was hosting then!
    * I was half-expecting the Hot Pockets to still be $2.49!
    * That's the second perfect Money Game playing this season! (That I've seen, anyway.) When was the last time THAT ever happened?
    * Joshua must've thought that this was still 2004, back when there were still analog TV's (and when HD flats were still something of a luxury)! That, or he really DID think the game was "Least Expensive"...
    * Ashley, the Marine wife who played Push Over, almost looked fit enough to be a Marine herself. At least to me. ^^;
    * $6,291 made sense to me, too.
    * Why were both cars in the Showcase cheaper than the ones offered in the games? A Chevy Spark and a Toyota Yaris!?! I'd rather have the "Splendido Special"...
