TPiRecap: 10 October 2014

Nothing really to follow-up on with the news item from earlier, except to add that the first week of December will now consist of reruns save for the Monday (1 Dec) episode, which is new. These were apparently the other episodes affected by the cancellation/rescheduling of the taping block that was to have included the Halloween Special. There may be other reruns inserted later, but I only checked the calendar through the first two weeks of December.

If I hear any more, I'll try to pass word along. For now, however, let's get to the matter at hand...

If you were to ask me, and you weren't, I would've changed every single number (except that leading 2 of course!), making it $21,829.

Christopher doesn't care about $5,061 in prizes; he's fine with just getting to meet Drew and George...

Besides having a name our intrepid host is strangely drawn to, Carey's shirt features images of Bob Barker, Rod Roddy, Johnny Olson, and what looks like the classic Barker's Beauties (shown with Bob in happier times) in addition to the modern crew, plus pics of herself then and now.

Rationale: Motorscooters rarely if ever end in -00, while tack-ons are frequently (if not commonly) used to bring a price up to nice round numbers (unless it's a trip, because trips and accessories are the Studio 33 incarnation of the ever-fickle Random Number Gods).

C'mon, folks, let's pick up the pace a little bit here...

Three weeks in, and that's already our eighth perfect bid of the season. We seem to be doing rather well with that.

Hi-Lo makes its season debut, and it's for a car besides:
2014 Toyota Corolla L (1.8L, 4AT; $18,210; RR)

  • Vlasic bread & butter pickle chips
  • Ziploc Slider zipper storage bags
  • Allegra allergy relief tablets (70)—this may end up being the most expensive GP in history
  • Lawry's seasoned salt (4 oz)
  • Simply Olay Simply Refresh body wash (13.5 oz)
  • Libman all-purpose scrub sponges (3)

Instinct tells me to put the bags and the body wash on the Hi row, along with the mind-meltingly obvious Allegra.

Not quite the most expensive ever (I remember seeing $39.99 at least once), but it's certainly in the ballpark. The body wash concerns me deeply; it's about a dollar less than I was counting on.

Where'd they get that Showcase from? Sanctified female bovines!

The rumors are true! Next week is the return of Dream Car Week, with one game each day played for a super-luxury car the likes of which you almost never see even in Golden Road. With luck, we may even be able to give at least one of them away too! See you then...
