TPiRecap: 13 October 2014 (Dream Car Week #1)

Nothing new to report on the cancelled taping block, save this: Apparently, only one of the missed episodes will actually be rescheduled. Thus, Season 43 will be at least four episodes shorter than usual. Remember this when we get to the end and the final stats for the year are compiled.

But, that's for future consideration. We've more immediate concerns today...

Dream Car Week #1

...namely, that today's the first day of Dream Car Week, which will now apparently be a regular feature of a Price season. For the uninitiated, this means that one of the two car games played on every episode this week will feature a super-luxury model, even in games that aren't normally reserved for cars in that price range. It hasn't been uncommon at all to see six-digit cars on offer during these weeks, either!

In the two we've had so far, we've managed to actually give away two of them, including a $150K+ car on the Best of 2013 Special (in a spot that saluted the gimmick). What will be the outcome this week? There is but one way to find out, and that is to soldier on...

We also have our first guest models of Season 43, Hunter King (Summer Travers, Y&R) and Matthew Atkinson (Austin Travers, ibid). It also gives us a distinctly old-school three-model lineup!

...
...Dude. That's a win right there.

All he has to do is say the word "five" and he pockets the keys to a Porsche SUV, no matter what that last number is. He's got six dollars to lose, and with no zeroes in play he can be off by no more than four in that situation. Even if Mike were to break the unwritten rule and have a zero in play, Jacob would still win if he called five, because he'd still have that one dollar left over!

Enjoy the ride, my friend, you've earned this one! All that's left now is the mere formality...

Wow. Well, where do we go from here? Where can we go from here? I don't know, but let's find out.

Unfortunately, Shelly doesn't even get out of the blocks before stumbling this season. (Last year we got almost to the end before it got its first mark in the loss column.) The number of games that could conceivably run the table this year is shrinking more and more.

But how can we possibly be down in the mouth after giving away a Porsche? We can't, that's how! This first half is still a rousing success story.

I know that's not a "Dream Car" per se, but at $28K+, it's still quite a bit more luxurious than the cars we normally get in this game especially. This oughta be interesting.

  1. It is so annoying when Drew says "it's a pretty new game" and "you might not have seen it" when introducing Double Cross. Why does he still do it!?

    ReplyDelete
  2. It's also annoying when Drew says "touch the car" when somebody loses on Golden Road Triple Play and 3 Strikes. It's like he rubs it in their faces. At least when Lucky Seven was played,he said it BEFORE the game starts. He should start doing that from now on.

    ReplyDelete
  3. 1. Not in Triple Play. Only in Golden Road (and 6-digit 3 Strikes)
    2. He does NOT rub it in their faces. They touch the cars for good luck in the Big Wheel (if they want to).
NOTE: It does not work on everyone.

Devin, do us a favor and delete all his comments and block him before he starts to jinx the show.

    1. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion. As long as it doesn't get abusive.

Given Shaun's history I'm skeptical of his reformation, but at the same time I have to believe that everyone has the right to one chance to redeem themselves, and I have seen him make an effort to stop being such an Angry Young Man. Rest assured I'm keeping a close eye on the situation, however, and the second I see him go back to his old ways, I won't be nearly so forgiving...
