As usual, people hear any variation on the "coffee maker" theme, they think "cheap." Not the case in the Row, folks...

Do the Math:
  1. Electrolux washer & dryer (RR)
  2. LG 55" LED 4K 3D Smart HDTV w/2 pairs of glasses (AL)
Let's be logical here. LG-po brand that TV may be, but it's a 4K which is still very much a luxury and a novelty. And if you don't buy that, consider: Washer-dryer combos like this almost always end in -98, and TVs most commonly end in -00 unless there are extra HDMI cables involved. Which there aren't in this position. Bottom line: The smart move is to add here.

Jerry subtracts, much to my consternation...
Not the best start to a week, especially coming off the euphoria of last Friday. "Buzzkill" paints the best picture, in fact. Still, it's just the first game of thirty to be played this week, and a Door #2 quickie at that—no reason to let this get us down, right?

Moving on, then...

Grand Game:
  • O-L!ve & Co. extra virgin olive oil (25 fl oz)
  • MicroTouch Max hair trimmer
  • Kibbles 'n Bits dog food (3.5 lb)
  • Plus White 5 Minute Premier teeth whitening system
  • Gain laundry detergent (100 fl oz)
  • Rolaids Ultra Strength antacid tablets (72)—now on sale at all New York Football Jets concession stands

Target
$11.00
$1

The EVOO is a ringer at that target price, and I count at least three other products that could believably be over eleven bucks... proceed with extreme caution.

Detergent

"Win" $10
(Olive oil: $13.99; Trimmer: $9.99; Whitener: $8.80; Antacids: $4.99)

The Gain was one of the three I was worried about, along with the trimmer and the whitener. Couple that with the EVOO and this was bad news waiting to happen. 8^/

And that helped more than you can possibly imagine. In fact, I'm pretty sure that guarantees her a win, since at worst she'll get the thousands digit right, then the hundreds digit will be automatic on her next turn, and finally the tens on the turn after that!

In other words, it's all over but the cheering! But let's just play along and see what the price turns out to be—I'm thinking $20,159.

WIN!

That rare occasion when an anticlimax is a good thing!

Of all the games I figured would be off to a 2-0 start, I gotta admit, Cover Up wasn't exactly high on that list. But there we are! And we got there in style besides! What more can I say?

His only hope now is that he drew either the 75¢ or the $2.00 card, which aren't great odds—9-1 against, in fact.

Zackery, my man, you dodged a major bullet here. That's two awesome car wins on the day!

Zackery escaped last time, and now Sharon finds her way onto the stage and off of the ticket queue for the Leftover Island shuttle is paved a lot easier, since Zackery left her with the advantage. Will it be enough?

Showcases: Zackery top winner, Hannah runner-up.

1. Knock on Wood
  • Six Tense wooden watches (AL, RR)
  • Trip to Vancouver, BC (6n, Pan Pacific Vancouver; AL)
    • 3hr guided tour of Stanley Park
  • Trip to Amsterdam, the Netherlands (6n, Hilton Amsterdam; RR)
    • Dinner canal cruise
Zackery passes; Hannah bids $12,000.
(My bid: $20,817)

Better hope for an overbid, Hannah. $12,000 for a Showcase might have worked in the early '90s, but it won't do you any favors today.

2. The "Sun," from those Vaguely Annoying Jimmy Dean Commercials, Presents a Showcase That Will Probably Make You Swear Off Breakfast Forever
  • Trip to St. Croix, US Virgin Islands (6n, Divi Carina Bay Resort & Casino)
    • Beachside couples' massage
  • Summerset 7pc outdoor dining set w/umbrella (RR)
  • Bonus: Year's supply of Jimmy Dean food (It's not just for breakfast anymore!)
  • 2015 Mazda MX5 Miata SV (2L, 5MT, club convertible top)
Zackery bids $26,500.
(My bid: $38,245)

Nothing personal against the guy, believe me. But to be quite frank about it, if I saw a man dressed up as a cartoon sun in my kitchen in the morning, I don't know about anyone else, but the first thing I'd do isn't eat a sausage breakfast; I'd probably get on the phone to my home-security provider and chew somebody out. Or failing that, at least check the side effects of my anti-hangover medication. Heh...

  1. I think the reason for the two-card reveal is to prevent anyone sitting in the audience behind her from possibly seeing the ARP, albeit upside-down.
