Note
Big Money Week #1

It's our third Big Money Week, that stunt where one game each day (in the first half) is played for an absurdly-inflated amount of cash. This time around there's over two million bucks to go around, too.

How much, if any, of it will be claimed this week? Let's find out.

Deborah was in town thirty years ago, but unfortunately for her, the show was on summer break at the time! Not so this time, and thus she gets to play a game that was twenty-nine years in the future back then, Do the Math:
  1. Trip to Bryce Canyon, UT (6n, The Lodge at Bryce Canyon, daily breakfast; MO)
  2. Trip to Hilton Head, SC (6n, Sonesta Resort, daily berakfast, 1 round of golf, 1 massage each, rental car; RR)
Deborah subtracts...

Yeesh, when I saw $5K on the first trip I actually thought for a moment we were home free... but I reckoned without the Distance Rule.

Well, so far we've played for a car and for two trips, and we know the Big Money game is played during the first half... so three guesses what's coming up in this spot.
3. Well, besides this Dev Valencia 14K white gold & diamond (.95ct) necklace, that is (JE)

Well, this is kinda awkward... we've already played our car game for the first half, but we're pulling Rat Race out for your consideration here:

Instead of a car, however, this is our Big Money Game for the day. How big? See for yourself, this time in reverse order of how I normally do this...

Show: $25,000 (RR with a plasma screen in front of Door #3)
Place: $50,000 (MO with a plasma screen behind Door #3)

And for Win... how does...

[charlie_o]
"...One hundred THOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSAND dollars!"
[/charlie_o]

...grab ya?

In other words, if Steven picks all three rats wisely, he could walk out of here with 175 Gs lining his pockets!

(Win, lose or draw, one very good thing about this stunt is that I don't have to look a darned thing up this time! Heh.)

Of course, we have to see if he can win any of these rats...

(RR with the door prizes)
$1: Puffs Plus tissues (125)
$3.00
$3.29
29¢
Pink(ish) rat
$10: Oster designer 2-slice toaster
$35
$35
EXACTA
Blue rat

Not to jinx anything here, but just to call up a point of interest: If he gets the $100-range prize, he's guaranteed to win at least $25K in the race. Very important SP coming up here...

$100: Breville electric citrus press
$225
$240
$15
Green rat

And so it goes. I may as well say at this point, that Steven is going to be considered a winner in this game no matter what, even if one of his rats doesn't actually come in first. Just so long as one of his rats doesn't pull a DNF, which is possible but unlikely, there's no way he can't win the $25,000 third-place money at least, and nobody who can take that kind of a check back to his or her seat [1] deserves to be called a loser, or to have the stigma of a partial win.

Unfortunately, the way I have Rat Race set up in my system precludes me from doing a full-on Enter Key Abuse deal to build suspense, so why don't we just cut right to the chase and find out just how much Steven's gonna win here:

The rat that matched his shirt and everything! That definitely warrants a dancing reanimated corpse Cyberman:
Just like last year when we had a $100K winner in ½ Off, we're starting the week off on a great foot! (Just hope it lasts...)

(CC1: And starting the week off on a not-so-great foot, it's the Anti-Xarelto Brigade)

I was being facetious earlier about "Big One-Bid Week," you realize. However, at this point with two more spots to go, we're sitting pretty at $12,268 won just in Contestant's Row, so maybe there's something to it after all.

Freeze Frame:
"Contemporary" work desk, leather upholstered chair, Samsung 55" LED HDTV, Apple 27" iMac computer (quad-core, 8GB RAM, 1TB HD, printer &speakers), & a pair of Samsung Galaxy tablets (MO)

With a motley assortment of prizes like that, I was expecting a grocery game here where the ARP wasn't relevant. Huh.

I was so convinced that this was $5,238 (based on past home-office collections being on the cheap side of life) that when I saw the ARP flip over it actually didn't register at first that it matched what Pamela stopped the wheel on. Or maybe that's just the long day I've had today (one reason why this is going up so late!). ^^:

Well, nobody can accuse Mike of pulling out cruel and unusual games right about now, that's for sure. And if they do, then they just love to complain.

Crossing everything that can be crossed now... I'm pretty sure we won't get a DOB out of this, though Steven stands a chance of making a little bit of history here...

We'll find out tomorrow
, when we have our annual Veterans' Day Special... yes, a double-dip for gimmicks! See you then...

(Oh, and "A discrepancy was found in the price of a prize and was rectified post taping. This did not affect the outcome of any game." Is it me or is this starting to happen more often lately?)

    Thank GOD.

And is it wrong that I'm laughing my ass off right now at your bid of $64,098 on the first Showcase? If so, I don't want to be right. The CLA-Class is the cheapest car in the current Mercedes lineup. Last time I checked, you could buy one for less than $30,000! Did you mistake the car for an E-Class? xD

I bid $40,000 on the first Showcase, and $24,500 on the second, my first DSW-range bid of the season! :D

    1. [shrugs] I'm not in the habit of pricing Mercedes-Benzes, what can I say? I figured $50-52K for the car.

  2. Well, I will just go ahead and declare Steven's Showcase a technical win because he made the smaller overbid than Katherine.

    1. ...Do you even have any concept of what the term "techincal win" means? It's what happens when a prop malfunctions in such a way as to affect the outcome of the game, or some other production error along those lines occurs; the wrong price posted for a car, for example.
