TPiRecap: 3 November 2014

Thanks to everyone for all the positive feedback for the syndie recaps I did on Friday in lieu of a new first-run show. I can't promise I'll be able to do something like that every time there's a pre-emption, but I'll try to get in a few more TPiRetros along those lines as the season progresses.

We're back to normal today, though, so there'll be no more repeats until the usual Thanksgiving break. Also, because the green color scheme wasn't really working out as well as I thought it might, I reverted back to the blues I used last season for the recurring design elements. It's easier on the eyes all-around.

Let's do this...

What is it with this game this season? It's not like they're making it any harder than usual (they're not; the Threshold is still in play, certainly), so it's got to be the contestants...

WIN!!!

Tempty wins are still very rare, so it's noteworthy when they do in fact happen. Of course, this will be the third straight season in which this game doesn't go 0-for-the-year, after not having posted a single winner since Drew took over.

Who cares? Celebrate! (And now all we need is for someone to get this lucky on Golden Road...)

Bonus Prize: Beachcomber Leep hot tub ($6,164 [1]; RR)

We get to see a closer look at the price holders, and they do indeed appear to be still the originals, with a new silvery coating to match the redesigned prop. So there's that, at least. What I don't get is why they don't design new ones; I know the only person on staff who knew how to make the things passed away years ago, but honestly, they don't look that difficult to make for a production staff capable of designing Eggcrate displays from scratch...

SUICIDE

At least it took until the 180th IUFB of the season before someone succumbed to that particular trap. Still, I hate seeing someone lose track of their surroundings to that level...

For the first time, we draw an Ace in the new Card Game, and for the first time we learn of a Rule Change that's been made: Aces can no longer be held in reserve by the player, they must be used when drawn. (This is actually a return to Card Game's original rules, after a fashion; back when the game first appeared on the scene you had to use Aces immediately as well, though there was also a $1,000 limit on how much you could make it.)

Also, apparently using an Ace no longer necessarily ends the game, when in past years that's been almost the unwritten rule.
