Here's a trivia note for you:  It's not only Bob's birthday today, it's 2-4-1's as well.  In fact, it debuted precisely twenty-five years ago today (12 December 1989).  So this is a Thing.  ^^

Okay, now this is really bad. I can just about make out the entire price of the car this time—$16,952. And yes, I will continue to point this out until the producers do something about this, because it looks really low-rent. At least do what you do in Stack the Deck (which uses similar backlighting for the GP prices) and put up a baffling grid to keep the outlines of unlit numbers from showing up on HD screens... that shouldn't be so hard, right?

But what I really want to know is, why is this never a problem for 3 Strikes, which uses an almost identical ARP display? It's only Pathfinder that suffers from this.

(RR with the do-overs)
  • Yes! by Finishing Touch hair remover
  • Bissell Little Green Proheat carpet cleaner
  • Hamilton Beach 6qt slow cooker

(Minor) Set Change: The small prize stands have undergone a slight revision; the borders are now silver/grey with some decorative arrows added to the ARP flap. The numbers also now have a drop shadow effect.

As an aside: You may wonder why I don't get on contestants' cases for not seeing the dimly-lit outlines. There are two reasons: One, what's obvious to me may not be so under studio-lighting conditions, and two, remember how a Pathfinder player stands with his/her back to the ARP display at most times. It's really that simple.

NOPE
($16,952, of course)

He actually went against the audience for that one; in the closeup we saw, everyone had two fingers up. I guess he saw one of his buddies saying zero, and went with that.

Honestly, folks, I don't enjoy pointing out glaring production flaws like the Pathfinder scoreboard. You may think I get a kick out of being a pedant, but it really just depresses me that a show that's usually so slickly produced has allowed something like this to go on unchecked for so long. I can only assume it still meets S&P requirements, so it's probably not even half as visible in person as it appears on my TV... but can anyone honestly tell me that nobody's looked at the broadcast master and caught this?

Sorry to go on about it, though. I'll drop the subject. For now.

Even blind chance seems to be working against us today. 8^/

Worse than these results, however, is the certainity I'm going to hear from the Tinfoil Hat Squad that they were all intentional, predetermined, and scripted losses because Mike Richards is an evil alien from Venus intent on running our beloved game show into the turf. Some people really need to get out from behind the keyboard more often.

  1. Nothing to special this week, IMO. at least one car pricing game won this Particular week.(last week is any number, this week is money game)

  2. On your question on why Pathfinder answers are so easily readable but not Three Strikes, maybe it's because the Pathfinder display is higher up and thus can reflect off the spotlights more.
That being said, you'd think they'd try switching to LED monitors a la Grand Game or 1-Bid Row. Hell, Bruce's PiR (in the UK) used TV screens in their Pathy display (and other games that needed them), and that was two decades ago!

  3. Guys named Matthew seem to have tough luck on Pathfinder. Back in Season 38 the guy who blew all 3 small prizes on the last digit in the car's price was also named Matthew.
