TPiRecap: 6 January 2015

Today's episode is notable in that it was accidentally leaked to the Internet a few weeks back, but quickly pulled once Fremantle realized it had gotten out. Many of you have already seen it, or at the very least, have heard about it. I have done neither. Therefore, I will be recapping this episode totally spoiler-blind and with fresh eyes, as I do with virtually every non-retro episode I do. All I've been told is that "something interesting" happens here; what that could mean, I have no idea at this point (as always, I'm writing this intro before I fire up the DVR).

Let's do this...

SUICIDE
$500

Drew makes the obvious—to LFaTs, at least—quip about welcoming Beverly to "Beverly... Avenue" (actually "Boulevard," but who's counting?). George promptly continues the gag (rather savagely beating it to death in the process) by saying "It's only fair that you can fax your friends and tell them you won" the prize on offer in Stack the Deck:
2015 Ford Fusion S (2.5L, 6AT, rear view camera, paint/fabry cprot; GOS)

I'm managing to suppress my disgust over seeing this game with the reminder that I was told "something interesting" would happen today. Dare I to hope...?

Well, let's find out anyway.

Hmm. Well, I would've been wrong on that last digit... I thought zero was the obvious choice there.

The 2 is naturally correct, but I worry about that 3... Fusions are usually in the $24-25K range. $23K seems a mite low, especially for a new model year (which the '15s were on this taping date.

Hit that button, Drew, and let's hope for the best...

WIN!!?!

...Wow. And here I thought I must still be whacked out of my mind on sleep deprivation. But it appears to be true; Stacky was just won for the first time in over a year. That'll teach me to go on autopilot. ^^;;

...I know most of you are probably expecting a funny picture to go here, perhaps including Touhou characters either throwing a party or reacting surprisedly. Unfortunately, I don't really have any to share and I'm leery of abusing the ones I've already abused to death. I'll give you some Dancing Miko Triplets, though:
That should do the trick. 8^)

So I guess the cool thing that happened here was the ultra-ultra rare Stacky win and not a perfect show. Of course, that's certianly cool enough! And hey, at least he ended up with the $2,500 after all; that's gotta count for something, right?

I suppose we had to pay the piper eventually for that Stacky win... but like this? Too much.

John gets just one last chance to dodge the express ride to the frozen tundra that is Leftover Island right now... fortunately, it's a very good chance, since the advantage is his.

  1. Yeah, I initially thought Beverly lost Stacky as well.

    1. You're just so used to seeing this game lost that you're on autopilot for the denoument. It really did take me a few seconds to realize what had really happened; the "mistake" you saw here, though I played it up for comic effect, really did happen to me as I was typing it up. ^^;
