Gotta go with the most expensive option, $8,590.
What a come-down from the high of the first half... hopefully this is nothing more than a pothole in the road.

I know it's the staff's job to make these games challenging... but challenging does not and should not mean "virtually impossible to win except through blind luck." Which are we witnessing here? Not for me to say.

Grand Game:
  • Chap-Stick moisturizing lip balm
  • Country Crock vegetable oil spread w/calcium
  • Kraft Jet-Puffed miniature marshmallows (10 oz)
  • Udderly SMOOth hand cream (twin pack)
  • Mrs. Dash lemon pepper seasoning (2.5 oz)
  • Heinz Homestyle turkey gravy (12 oz)

Seems obvious to me that the hand cream should be avoided at all costs. Not entirely certain about the other product, though... the Country Crock, maybe? Butter substitutes can be quite pricey these days...

1. Multi-Layered Showcase
  • His & hers intermediate ski package (Skis.com; RR)
  • The GE Triangle of Terror (AL)
  • SSR SRU170RS UTV (RR)

2. Today's Very Special Guest Star, Rock & Roll Jeopardy!'s Very Own Jeff Probst—And, Oh Yeah, That Island Show Too—Presents...
  • On the island, fire represents life... but in the Bob Barker Studio, we have our own ideas about that...
    • Napoleon aluminium patio flame table (RR)
  • And speaking of "islands"... don't worry, we won't be stranding you for 39 days here—only seven or so:
    • Trip to Aitutaki, Cook Islands (Indiana Jones Map, 6n, Pacific Resort)
      • Daily breakfast
  • And after outwitting, outplaying, and outlasting David, Nikki can drive home in this:
    • 2015 Mini Cooper hardtop (1.5L, 6MT, all-weather mats; AL)
Nikki bids $30,520.
(My bid: $34,387)

Survivor is fifteen years old this year, and this next run that's about to begin will be its thirtieth. Honestly, and all kidding and pretensions aside... I never would have thought it would become what it has. It's not my thing personally, but I must take my hat off to 'em; they're obviously doing something right over that way, and it's resulted in one of the longest-running primetime game/reality shows in history.

  1. Yeah, I never really understood all the fuss about Survivor either.

  2. I scoffed a little when Drew said that Jeff Probst was "one of the nicest guys in the world". I can think of at least one user on the old GSN.com boards who would disagree with you there, Drew! ¬_¬

Fun fact: At the same time as the pilot for Survivor was being submitted to CBS, what was then known as Pearson Television was submitting a pilot for a revival of What's My Line?. What do you think would've happened if Les Moonves (at least I THINK he was running CBS in 2000...) had chosen the WML revival over Survivor? Would today's second Showcase instead have Arlene Francis's descendants celebrating the 65th anniversary of that show?

Or, due to Pearson's dismal handling of Match Game and Family Feud and the EXTREMELY dismal way they handled Card Sharks a year later (that's probably why CBS picked Survivor in the first place!), would Survivor get on-air anyway and history not change all that much?

  3. Remember the "Ezekiel Barker" joke Drew used to make to make up for Bar Bar Bar having Bob Barker's name in it? Did he once say that Bar Bar Bar was owned by "David Barker?"
