TPiRecap: 17 April 2015 (Couples Week #5)

So far this week, we've had:
  • "Blind Date" couples (paired up at random with an assist from Match.com)
  • Married couples celebrating anniversaries
  • "Military Couples" with one or both actively serving
  • And a "Baby Shower" for expecting parents.

Well, I suppose that only leaves one kind of romantic couple still to be represented, doesn't it? And sure enough, on this final day of Couples' Week, we hear from the engaged and the soon-to-be-married...

Note
Couples Week #5: "Mass Wedding!"

...only, as you might guess from the subtitle, they won't exactly be "engaged" by the end of this show, and the "soon" in "soon-to-be-married" is a little bit sooner than you might think. Say, about an hour or so from this point.

That's right, we are about to set the record for Largest Mass Wedding Ever Held... In a Television Studio... On a Game Show... On a Friday. Drew has apparently gone through the legal hoops to have the state of California invest in him the power to declare marriages, and later on today all the couples in the audience today will be joined in holy matrimony in a single mass ceremony.

With the shoes posted at $2,690... I'd go with the barbecue. The shoes are probably $3,290 or so, based on past experience.

Now, normally, I would complain about having to see Swap Meet at all, let alone on a day like this... but Swap Meet's track record in these skunk-saving situations is actually fairly high, so let's cross our fingers and hope this reliability continues now...

The good news is, we won't have a stripey-tailed invader to our wedding later on... the bad news, at least for me, is that once again I owe it all to probably my least favorite game in the rotation (non-car division). Ah well... ^^;

Surprise, surprise—we're not at Home Base for these Showcases, but rather the Plinko Perch. (Hmm... I actually kinda like that staging.) Anyway, before we do one more thing, it's time to do what we came here for... well, what our audience members came here for, certainly, besides the chance to get called down.

DJ Kevin (I presume) queues up a pipe-organ hybrid of the Price theme with a "Here Comes the Bride" intro, Drew reads his prepared official statements, approximately 200 people say "I do" simultaneously. "On the Big Wheel of love, may you always spin a dollar," quips Drew, as he officially proclaims all the couples in the crowd married. "Kiss away!" says Drew, as streamers fly.

There now... that wasn't so bad, was it?

And so, with the ceremonies complete, it's now time for the Reception: Claudia & Blake (true) top winners, Tamani & Baron runners-up.
