TPiRecap: 20 April 2015

Back to normal this week after a week of doubles shows... and yeah, gimmicks are all well and good, but let's not do another one of these next year, hmm? Spread the couples' specials out more over the season, instead of clustering them together like this, you'd be amazed at the difference it makes.

And so...

Robert's looking to be our announcer the next time the position's available. George might have something to say about that...

Grand Game:
  • GE Crystal Clear 40W decorative light bulbs (4 ct)
  • PediaSure with Fiber nutritional shakes
  • Güd from Burt's Bees body wash (10 fl oz)
  • Reach waxed dental floss (55 yd)
  • Luvs♥me cat food (3.15 lb)
  • Marzetti caramel dip (6-2oz cups)

My gut says to avoid the light bulbs and the body wash, but I'm only recluctantly declaring the cat food "safe." We'll see...

Drew: "I don't even think they sell $4 bars of soap..."

Peggy, it seems, got crossed up by the Peanut Gallery; she thought they were telling her to bid $4 when they really meant $40. And thus are painfully demonstrated the dangers of letting the audience do all of your thinking for you. (Especially painful in Johannes's case; notice that on his way down the cliff he actually did a faceplant off the side of the prop!)

Cliff Hangers does have a winning record this season, even with this debacle... but only by one game (9-8).

Yes, it's two prizes, but since they're not identical, our rule about even numbers doesn't apply here. That said... $6,594 seems the better bet of the two, just because that sauna is usually in the $3-4,000 range and that tread climber wouldn't be more than about $3K itself.

  1. Ah, Mindreaders. GSG inducted it a while back, mainly 'cause it was too tedious and luck based for it's own good, even for a panel show.
Speaking of GSG, I'll bet they have their 1st Dumb Answer of the Week nominee with that CliffHanger playing!

  2. "Is George a Mindreader, yes or no? Did Drew Carey say yes? Did Rachel Reynolds say no? ...etc. and so forth"

    Bonus points to me.

  3. By the way, do you know if there are any episodes of "Mindreaders" still in existence anywhere?

  4. Ahh, it feels so good to be back after taking a week off. I wonder what I missed? (looks at recaps of last week) ...Not much. That's good! -_-

Aww, why couldn't they have had the Asian woman do the second Showcase instead? (I don't know her name...all I know is that her character's name on Scorpion is Happy Quinn...) >_<

I notice that today's episode aired on "420"...and Peggy played Cliff Hangers like she was smoking that! Ò_Ó
